i want to send my barrel for threading and i would like to know how to remove the ejector. it looks like the ejector is held into the chamber on the end of the barrel by two pins but i'm not sure if they really are pins so i don't want to go banging on them.

brett248...you need to remove your ejector on camera for us!

Nope not going there...... The ejector is sacred ground only to be tinkered with by the expert smiths at Smith!

My ejector is working fine and I am not even looking at it the wrong way! :)

Assuming you already have the barrel out of the upper, you need to drive out the two coil pins in the barrel extension and then tap the barrel extension back off the barrel. Your ejector will then come out of the extension easily.
You'll need a barrel vice to clamp the barrel in while you drive the pins out, and the proper sized punch so you don't bugger up the pins. Be careful doing it. It's not something I would recommend doing just for the heck of it.

Search back a week or so -- someone had posted some pix on a post with the same topic...

Unless there's something wrong with it I wouldn't mess w/ it if it's worked up until this point. Odds are if it isn't in exactly the same position it is'nt going to function properly. From previous posts it seems if it's off, even to the point that the eye cannot tell a difference, it screws everything up. Like Brett said, I'm not touching mine either.

i've decided to leave it alone and let the gunsmith remove it if he needs to in order to thread the barrel. i was just being cheap and trying to avoid any possible disassembly/reassembly charges. it's not worth the $25(?).

thanks guys.

No machinist will have to remove it, unless they are using a little toy lathe. They chuck the barrel up with the Barrel extension in tact.
