I'm thinking about the Unisaw to replace my old table saw.

Are there any woodworkers here who have taken the plunge and purchased or extensively used the new unisaw?

I'd be interested in hearing what you think of the saw. The woodworking rags have given it pretty good reviews.

Ive certainly used enough of the old ones. In my experience you often come out ahead with a used Unisaw. They seem to last for ever. The only new table saw I ever bought was a General and I wish I'd stayed with an old Unisaw or an old Powermatic.

But if you have the money burning a hole in your pocket What the heck! I cut up big pieces of wood into little pieces of wood for a living and I don't know of any shops that have bought new equipment this last, horrible, year but it's certainly a well respected name.

The new model is supposed to be a real improvement on the old saw and it's made in America [or at least assembled here ;-) ]

But for approximately 3 grand I'd like to hear from someone who's actually used the machine. Getting one to the middle of Alaska is not particularly cheap.

I need the ability to make repeated accurate miters at various angles without going through laborious series of setup cuts.

Have you considered an add on slider with a long adjustable fence like the Excaliber? I've got one on the General and it does great accurate miters. The scale actually is accurate and adjusts easily. My only gripe is it does not handle a full 48" cross cut when set up but the guide removes quickly.

I used a Delta for many years when I worked at a Cabinet Shop, very fine saw. When I started my own business I bought a Grizzly. Its every bit as good as a Delta and 50% less money.
