picked this up at an estate auction yesterday just because it is different. i think it is the first kitchen "multi-tool". made by bridge cutlery, st louis usa. it is labeled(clockwise) cap lifter, meat tenderer, minceing edge, and cleaver. thanks. lee

Definitely like that cap lifter. Can't hardly imagine anyone telling you to "hurry the **** ** with that beer" when you're opening it with that tool.

Sir, that's a cool thing. Any idea what the semi-circular cutout is for?

Thanks, and Semper Fi.

Lee ... That's one of the multi-purpose June cleavers from the 1950s, capable of handling a multitude of household chores.

It looks like the tool that a lot of WTN Trappers carry -
I believe it's called a beaver cleaver...

Cleaver

Wow!! That is one cool tool!! Especially like the "smily face" in the middle!!

I seem to recall that the cut out in the middle was a special purpose tool to lift pot lids or stove lids---or something like that anyway. FWIW

olcop, that could be it. you can't tell in the picture, but the inside of the cut out is slightly bent outward so it could be used to lift something. any idea to age? lee

i just found a website i had not found before. some of the stamping i could not read is a patent date of aug 5, 1916. the center hole is a pivot hole for an ice shear(missing on mine). it could be turned up and locked into the slot for use and then unlocked and turned down for storage. lee

That was a June "Cleaver", Ward used to spank her with it.
Wally was traumatized for life upon a brief viewing. June always did say, Ward, don't you think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night? Ah the 60's.....
