I've spent the last 3 hours researching some cheapo NCstar Mark III 3-9x42mm scopes that had everything you could ever ask for minus the quality (hearing lots of good and bad.) they had 3-9x, even a quick disconnect mount and illuminated reticle, red/green, etc. Now i rarely ever hear of quality problems with Leupold, but I originally stayed away assuming price ranges over $400+. I found a new "AR" specific however that seems to run right at $299. Leupold || Mark AR Riflescopes (looking at the T2)
Now for just a little bit more it would seem worth it for the quality, plus it would be more durable to move to a real AR 5.56 one day if i were to get one.

My main concerns are this thing looks really long! Would there be room for it on the 15-22? Specs show something around 12'' or more. And what would i need to mount it, would i have to go get rings at $20-30 more also? Just looking for reaons why it might not work out so great, although I guess this is a far more reliable product than the NCstar items? Anyone with any experience using any long leupold on their 15-22 let me know.

On a .22 like the 15-22, the Leupold rimfire scope is technically better matched to your gun. For starters, the scope parallax can be set as close as 10 meters for the ranges you are likely to shoot, as opposed to shooting at 300 yards and beyond with a centerfire rifle. The rifle scope you selected is matched to the 5.56 cartridge, not the .22 rimfire.
Leupold || VX-II 3-9x33mm Rimfire EFR
The fixed power model is even more compact:

I have a Leupold rimfire scope on an expensive bolt action .22 that is more accurate than your M&P 15-22 could be made to be, and the Leupold rimfire scope is entirely satisfactory for it.

yeah more research I've found that the VX-I and VX-II are just as cheap as this 'newer' AR model, i don't need the .223 ballistics on my knobs, and i don't really need to pay more to have them 'click'. I've found these more in the $229,$329 range respectively. difference in vx-i to vx-ii doesn't seem worth $100, but i haven't seen through either of them. I wanted a wide or LR duplex. I find the x33 are just as expensive as the centerfires so, i'd rather just go with one of those for more versatility. so anyone mounting up these leupolds?

Do you understand what parallax is and why it is important to have it adjusted near the range at which you are shooting?

If the parallax is adjusted to a range substantially different than the range you are shooting, then the crosshairs move on the target when you move your eye, making it difficult to impossible to achieve optimum accuracy. It is a common problem when scopes designed for high power rifles are put on .22s.

IMHO you would be better off with the 4X rimfire model(comes with 60yd parallax set) than any of the high-power rifle models you are considering, unless you plan on shooting your .22 at 200yds and beyond.

would this satisfy both needs?
Cabela's -- Burris Fullfield II™ and RimFire Rifle Scopes
seems odd concidering just the fullfield II ballistic duplex is $179.99 by itsself. $20 rebate also. hell of a value considering i was gonna bite on a single leupold for the same price.

hmm, is one center one rimfire or are both rimfire? i assumed the fullfield II is centerfire and the other rimfire..
