Was perusing that site last night and found a few things that looked interesting.
Sent a note to a seller that's in-state. No reply yet, we'll see.

Anybody here used it with any success or problems?

For a ftf sale. There are scammers using the site attempting to get buyers to send money orders, etc.
The guys on the Colt forum post a lot of warnings about it.

It is okay, but selection is limited and some sellers have unrealistic expectations of their product's market value. They still ask the moon sometimes in order to negotiate. However some want almost full retail for used with add-ons.

If a handgun is priced right it won't last a few days on AL.

I found better deals overall on gunbroker.com and purchased two Glocks there recently.

I bought a rifle there recently. I did a thorough search of the seller before making the payment and was happy with the purchase. Use some common sense precautions and a little research and you should be ok.

I use Armslist but only for FTF transactions in my state/area. You have to weed out the BS but there are some good deals and trades to be had there.

I only do local face to face deal. Have not had any problems.

Yes, for both buying and selling. FTF only. I was frequently contacted by obvious out of state scammers. Selling can be fascinating. I was offered about thirty different trades on a Colt Defender before someone came up with actual money. Have fun.

I get frustrated by seller's asking prices. Look, I know people are free to set their price, and I'm free to say no, but I get turned off the site after seeing 3 or 4 straight 'lightly used' gen 3 glock 23s for $680.... People are out of their minds sometimes

I've used it many times, it's like Craigslist for guns. Lots of flakes reside there(just like CL, maybe they're the same guys:eek:), I go by gut feelings when deciding on items. One thing I do is to request a phone number, most scammers won't respond with one. Most of my transactions have been face to face meeting at a public place (neither home address). I've found a lot of ammo at really good prices (and a lot of overpriced stuff as well but I just ignore that). Some stuff is overpriced but others are good deals. Just do your homework and be careful.

I saw a P7M8 once with a great price......almost to good. I had heard there are scams on there so I asked the owner for his number and he said he is "deaf" and had to text only. I noticed the email replies seemed very canned as well.

The photos looked familiar so I started looking for them online and found them. I reported it to the site as scam

I only do FTF and like Bkreutz said get the phone # and talk to the guy. I've picked up some good deals.

I have great success using it for both buying and selling.
I only do FTF in state , although I would go to neighboring states if the opportunity presented.
I have a firearm bill of sale I got off of the internet which I make the buyer fill out and I`m careful to verify the data.
Use it while you still can because it is too good to last and I feel certain the Lefty`s will shut it down as soon as they can.
In fact I`m going there now to see if there`s something I cant live without.

Both times I've used Armslist for buying have been very positive. They were both local, and I was able to get actual phone #'s. That made a huge difference. Then after having a conversation, and setting up a meeting place, everything went great. I do think there are a load of scams on there, and you have to be aware.

I've seen many scams on AL.
I would never send money to anyone on there, and only buy ftf.
I've sold a few mags on there without any problems, but sending money to a stranger that you can't confirm is plain stupid.
That site is a magnet for scammers.

I've tried to use it to purchase firearms - two attempts, no responses.

Regards,

Dave
I keep tabs on the Ohio list and wonder if some of the listings are for real or are those guys just nuts, I espcially like the ones that want to trade but need more from you than what your getting , I think some on the list just like to have people E-MAIL them , and than you have the guys who never take the listing down nor will they reply , so all in all it all comes back to BUYER BE WARE.
