Recently purchased the 3.6" M&P 9mm 2.0. Liked the 15 round cap and 3.6" seemed to match the frame perfectly. Was hoping it would offer some improvement over my 1.0 M&P 9C, which is essentially the same firearm but 12rd standard mag. I also found the 3.6" for under $400 on grabagun, which was a decent buy.

As noted in previous threads, the 2.0s for at least the 9mm did NOT retain the original trigger loop and instead have a sear disconnect tab thing that is installed next to the sear on the same pin.

Having never liked the stock M&P double hinged trigger, picked up an Apex standard 2.0 kit thinking that would suffice and may only need to use the trigger and not the rest of the kit similar to what I did with my Shield 45s. Retained the stock sear, polish the USB, add the Apex trigger, and tweak the trigger loop to your preference.

The trigger dropped in as expected, sear breaks pretty crisp on the back end. Problem was the sear broke at the very very back of the trigger stroke. I like mine breaking towards the back, but even this was too far for my taste. Normally it's a simple adjustment of the trigger loop, but not so with the 2.0. You gots what you gots. Quite maddening. Called apex and asked if they would sell their sear disconnect that comes with the forward set trigger kit separately. Their disconnect has a longer tab that engages the trigger bar sooner, which has the sear breaking sooner in the trigger stroke. No joy, you have to get the entire kit.

Found a forward set trigger kit for a very good price, dropped in the sear disconnect only, and as expected the sear broke further up in the trigger stroke. The satisfying part was the sear broke where I would normally tune mine to break with the trigger loop. Initially thought may have to tweak the tab, but not so. When you hear "forward set", one typically thinks more forward than to the rear. If a person is buying a forward set kit for a 2.0, it may not be as forward as expected. You gots what you gots.

Also noticed a little hitch in the trigger pull about the time the trigger bar contacted the disconnect. Turns out there was a little slop between the sear and the disconnect. The disconnect wasn't moving straight backward but canting slightly before engaging the sear. The slop, and hitch, was remedied with a trimmed cylinder shim.

Also ended up installing the forward set trigger. The standard set trigger worked fine but there was a little travel before hitting the frame/stop. So now the trigger breaks as expected and hits the stop right after. That may/may not be to your liking. Personally I like a positive stop on the back end.

ultrtec00, sorry you went through all that experimentation. I put the Apex Flat forward set trigger kit in my 2.0 compact and it is the best striker fired trigger that I have experienced to date. As you know they provide a chart with springs to adjust the pull to your liking.
