I have most of my break in done but added a apex straight trigger ffs kit set at 4lbs and wanted to run another 100 rounds thru it before trusting the trigger. Turned out to be really nice shooter and groups well . I tend to trip the darn safety !!?? Got to get use to that little lever'E thangy. But it needs a safety with that short stroke on the apex trigger. Got a treat like a 1911 . Gona start setting my thumb on the safety with my 2 handed grip . Couple more weeks of plink'n at the range and I'll be ready to carry it.

Yes, thumb on top of the safety is the right way. Thumb under the safety and you will accidentally engage the safety occasionally.

You can remove the sear housing and the safety lever, then carefully bend the safety lever frame inward just a bit to create a little more friction. Before it was such that if you barely brushed the safety it would engage/disengage. Now I don't have to worry about accidentally disengaging the safety but it's still plenty easy to disengage should I ever need to, and you can not accidentally engage the safety now.

It is about the same effort to cycle the safety as my 1911 but with the m&p my hand sits closer to the bore center and that's more about me screw'n up. With practice I'll get it squared away with in the next couple weeks. Just need to run more draw and fire double taps drills . That I can do at home.
