I installed my Apex Forward Set Trigger & Sear Kit today, using the "4 lb." trigger spring (not the green "5½ lb." one) and I still ended up at 5½ lb. Is this consistent with what others have found?

I installed the FSS in my 9mm pro and the trigger pull came out to 4.3lbs with the 4lb option. It really feels like less, I was surprised it came out that high. I re-measured it a few times and the lowest it measured was 4.28. Highest was 4.31.

I just picked up my .40 FS from the gunsmith this evening. He installed the complete FSS and polymer trigger for me and charged $40. When I checked my new trigger with my Wheeler trigger gauge, I was getting 4.1-4.3 lbs. but it feels even less when compared to the factory trigger.

Mine is about 5.5lbs. It never concerned me because I wasn't after a light pull weight. I was looking to reduce take up and over travel. The FSS did that nicely.

There are a number of factors that affect pull weight. Apex doesn't guarantee any specific weight. They only say that what it will be approximately. If you want a specific weight, you'll have to take your gun to a smith.

I put the four pound spring in mine and I like it. It is whatever it is. I have a positive reset and have taken most of the pretravel out. The over travel is very concise. I like it for the fact that it shortened the trigger travel from the factory part significantly. I had a 2.5# spring in the gun and was not happy with the reset of the trigger. I think a lot of things would need to be polished and cleared up for that to be a workable option.

i had the same issue in my 9FS. I put the FSS kit in but used the Competition spring kit. Travel was around 2.5-3lbs but when doing followups it wouldnt reset all the time. SO i settled for the 4lb spring or whatever. Its still awesome.

Coming off revolvers the four pound trigger works better for me anyhow and my groups shrunk too.
