I'm just looking for trustworthy reviews of this trigger, from folks who have actually tried it.

The reduced pre-travel and over-travel seems very attractive to me. also, how tough is the install? like i said, it will go on a sw9ve. along with the apex spring kit, if i decide to pull the proverbial trigger. Thanks!

I have a sw9f that I put the Apex trigger and spring kit into. I have shot approx. 250 rounds thru it to date. Apex's claim that the pre travel is 20% less is totally true. I have no perceived over travel at all. The action is smoother, I can feel when it is about to break (yea), trigger reset is more positive and as measured with my wheeler trigger scale breaks at 6.2lbs where it used to break at over 10 (my scale only goes to 10lbs and i use to have to pull hard past the stop).

This is excellent, thank you for the quick response. Did you have to do any filing on the new trigger to get it to mate up with the frame, as the website suggests may be necessary on the SD line? not that i'm not capable, but obviously everybody wants projects to go as smoothly as possible.

On mine I did not need to do any fitting. I just followed the video (the video is for the SD and it is a little different to remove the back firing pin spring plate). Had a little trouble putting in the slide stop correctly the whole install/reintall took less than 25 min and I cleaned some parts that I had never cleaned before like the plunger and under the extractor since I had to remove these parts for the spring kit.

Recently installed it on my mine along with the spring kit. Just from dry firing it I can tell a difference. With the shaving/filing I had to do on the trigger I put it so the breaking point is right at the end of the pull, no over travel at all. It is also much more comfortable, so to speak, on the trigger pull. I always felt like in order to engage the safety on the S&W trigger I was pulling in a more downwards direction instead of straight back. With the Apex it's all straight back.

Haven't been to the range though with it yet thought, that'll happen this weekend hopefully. I'll report back.

I installed this kit in a friends SW9VE. What everyone is saying in the above comments is very on point. BUT, let it be know you may have to file the front and back of the trigger where it contacts to the frame to allow for complete travel and reset. This was an issue with the one I installed. Even with that I highly recommend it.

Went to the range today with it. To put it simply I am OVER surprised. I knew it was going to be better than the factory components but I had no Idea it would be this good.

I went to an indoor range so max distance was 20 yards. But still I don't know of someone's living room or kitchen that's close to that long haha.

Five-shot groups. Bottom 7 2"Wx3H" has two rounds touching, right 8 1.5"Wx2"H" has three rounds touching, left 9 1"Wx3.5"H has two rounds touching. The head is the largest spread and is still only a 2"Wx3.5"H. Shooting at 20 yards with a pistol and being able to cover up each shot group with the palm of your hand, no fingers.. I'm thrilled by that.

Still no troubles with cycling or jamming. I was using UMC 147Gr. FNEB because Acadamy has been out of Blazer for a while now. This gun is performing quite well for still being under the $375 mark.

Here's a link to my install thread.

Well yesterday went to the range with some family - Sister had a brand new xd40. i have never cared for xds, but I shot about 5 rounds with it, and The trigger is so much better on that than my sigma...Just made me want to try the apex trigger and springs that much more! I gotta do it...

i have heard alot of good things about those kits. apex appears to have great kits. i dont think you will be disappointed. i have yet to put them in my SD. i wanted to get night sights first. but those are next on the list and my sights will be here in 5-7 days :)

Thanks for all the replies - How was apex's shipping? and another question - WHY would you want a stainless guide rod, and recommend one if you would.

Ok - I have pulled the proverbial trigger. Apex springs and trigger ordered....no going back now. I hope. Just gotta wait for Christmas to get here...

Finally!!! :D

It's gonna feel like a different pistol-and only in a good way!

because the plastic one is cheap. galloway makes a stainless one and can be found on amazon for $30

anyone notice light primer strikes with the apex spring kit? or does it affect this at all?

I have recently had quite a few light strikes and I have re-installed the original striker spring back in my SD9VE. It doesn't do it with all brands but just the fact that it has a few times I'm not taking any chances. Once the original one was back in, the trigger pull still felt good since I have the AEK installed.

I had shot about 3000 rounds since installing the lighter spring so that may be a factor. Maybe just hard primers...I'm not sure but like I said I'm happy with the original spring now.

Received the AET yesterday and installed it last night. Everything went together fine, no filing needed. The dry fire feel is excellent. Probably won't get to the range until Saturday.

This is what i was wondering. I was considering leaving the factory striker spring for this reason.
