Anyone who has used the Apex spring kit in the Sigma, any 'light strikes' using the firing pin spring? I'm not real thrilled with the kit, I bought one for my son in law for Christmas, we put it in yesterday, didn't seem to make a real difference. Pulled the sear assy out, did the standard removal of the pig tail spring and changed out the outer coil spring which did the trick. It still had some grittyness while pulling, (compared to mine which is butter smooth, I have over 2,000 rounds through it since I did the mods). If we had more time, I'd have worked a bit on polishing the inside slot of the sear 'block' and the outside edge that rubs on the plastic, that seems to me where the 'grit' is coming from. He went and shot it, seems real happy with it. Thinking about doing the polishing and trying the firing pin spring.

Not saying you will, but I have seen problems with the light firing pin spring.
Polishing the inside slot while you have the sear out would me my choice.
Most people that leave the pigtail out only do so because it is hard to put back. It adds little to trigger pull to leave it in.
Assume you are aware of the risk of failure to reset the sear with HOT ammo after removing springs? (Should not affect moderate loads)

I've heard the theory on the re-set issues from leaving the pig tail spring out, hasn't happened to me. I carry Ranger Ts, 115gr +P+, they are pretty hot, haven't had an issue shooting them. I've got over 2,000 rounds, (including a box or two of the Ts), through the gun since the 'mod'.

I replaced the springs with the Apex kit and polished the internals (Sear, bracket) added graphite lube.....she shoots very smooth. I haven't had any issues with hot or standard rounds. This modification is one I highly recommend.
