First of all a BIG thank you to Flork for allowing us to test his products and props for asking for customer feedback.

As most of you know a few people were selected by Flork to test the newest product from Apex Tactical, 3 round magazine extensions for both 9MM and .40 S&W.

I was one of the lucky few and received a care package today from the wonderful folks at Apex. It contained the following.

1 SD mag extension for designated caliber
1 SD Poly Trigger (AET)
1 SD spring kit
1 Apex T-shirt is designated size
2 Apex patches

Here is the Un boxing with some help from my Kershaw Skyline

 I cant thank you enough it was like Christmas morning (Except you like the shirt you got ;) )

Ok so first things first I got right to installing the Mag Extension and it was extremely simple

Since Flork stated this would work with the sigma mags I decided to go for maximum capacity in .40 and used a 15 round SW40f magazine as the host.

Removed the base plate along with the guts and cleaned the mag.

Be sure to back the screw out before installing, Adding a dab of thread locker would probably be a good idea however I do not have any on hand.... yet.

Re assembled using the extension and placed the factory base plate and interlocking tab in the bag to keep as spare parts.

Next I broke out the hammer and punches and got to work on the Poly Trigger (AET)

For instructions on how to replace that see this video
AEK Install - YouTube
The Video is for the M&P but the process is virtually the same.

Some Have reported needing to fit the trigger to the frame,I did not have this issue however if you do go to this thread http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-...x-polymer-aet-trigger-fix-if-not-working.html and follow the instructions within and all will be well.

Here is the finished product waiting patiently to be tested.

Great partial review. I had to do a slight file job to the base plate lips because it was giving me problems seating the spring. I nearly had to beat it on with my palm because it was so tight. I actually had feeding problems because the spring wouldn't seat properly. Everything is in great working order now and the new trigger is just absolutely amazing.

A few Members have reported having trouble getting +3 in the .40 cal SD mags with the extension so i decided to try an experiment.

I took the extension off the 15 round SW40F mag and placed it on the SD mag to try and replicate the results. I was able to get the +3 in fairly easy but it left no wiggle room in the mag for seating on a closed slide.

I also have a SW40 14 round magazine so i decided to try the extension on that I was surprised to find out that getting the +3 in was even easier than with the SD mag and it left maybe 1/16th or less wiggle room and seating on a closed slide is done with ease.

If you look at the SW magazine spring (orange) it appears to be slightly shorter than the SD spring (black).
It also appears the Sigma follower has slightly shorter legs than the SD follower.

And just for fun here is a height comparison of the SD magazine the SD magazine with extension and the SW40F magazine that holds 15 rounds.

I have noticed that just leaving the mag loaded over night the base plate will twist just a hair to the side that has no set screw.

I have not made it to the range so do not know if it will cause any issues yet. Just an observation.

Unfortunately I experienced 5 nose down/nose up failures to feed using the magazine with the extension on it today during my range session. I will move the extension to another magazine for the next session to see if anything changes.

It held up well to being ejected onto the concrete not that I expected any different from a base made of aluminum.

If you look close here you can see the base has twisted ever so slightly however I do not believe that had anything to do with the failures to feed.
