Appalachian Outlaws

Yes I too believe this show is fraught with horse apples.

However If one reads history of Appalachia in the WV section between VA and KY you will read of real outlaws. It was a great hiding place in the 20's and 30's for the Bonnie and Clyde wanna be's.

I the late 1800's folks traveling from VA to KY via wagon train had to hire guards.

My Paternal grandfather was one of the guards. He made many trips. He carried a Springfield 45-70, 1884.

While discussing the trips and how folks were shot he was asked if he shot anyone, he paused and said, he was not for sure but he did put holes in shadows moving in the brush and the remaining outlaws then cleared the area.

I have that 45-70.

Side note; my Grandfather was guarding a train owned by a General Contractor who was moving to eastern KY. He built lots of Courthouses there and some of a university. My tall Clint Eastwood looking granddad met my Grandma on this trip and they later married.

It's not that easy to find.. you don't collect 5 pounds an hour unless you're digging in a garden!

Appalachia in some paxrts is a third world Country. There are still family feuds going on to this day, with the influx of meth things are getting worse... but this show is still a joke. Why is it on the history channel?

.This has to be sanctioned and staged.

I agree, It is all about selling the sponsors product, nothing more.

Wouldn't surprise me that once some Hollywood producer figures it out they will be selling commercial spots for the "new program called Grass Wars" where neighbors will have "strongggg hostilities" against each other cutting their lawns, confronting one another over their equally made briggs & strattons.

Get used to it fellers, as long as you support and find favor with the sponsors that is the programing your going to be watching. Or wait, is it really the commercials that you are watching?

The show is "loosely" based on fact.. with lots of "color" added.:D

Ginseng and marijuana mature at about the same time.. I have run across a few pot patches that were active. You got to watch your step, especially in National Forest even if you're armed!

It's entertaining to some and waste of time to others.
I sometimes will tune in on a slow tv night to find some humor.
Kinda put it in the same category as Sons of Guns and other similar shows. It's better than watching sponge bob but my younger g-kids may argue that.

The constant gun in hand has gone way overboard. See opening scenes of about every reality, (give me a break, reality geez) and everyone including kids and animals have guns in their hands. About the only show I watch is Below Zero. These people do a lot of hunting so there are many guns in the show, but except for Sue they are just kinda there.

This has got to be the phoniest program on cable TV. Guys
buying wet sang, along the road, no even weighing. Throwing
bombs, pulling guns, shooting into bushes. This show should
be on Sci-Fi channel.

I tried stomaching about five minutes of one episode and found it almost as dumb as the kardashians and honey boo boo.
