appendix carry options

Many years ago, when I was much younger, much skinnier, and much more tolerant of discomfort, I carried the Hi Power and 1911 pistols at the appendix position using a simple belt-clip IWB holster. This worked for just about anything other than slow dancing with girls I didn't know real well.

Today I would be reluctant to carry anything IWB, and if I had to carry either the 1911 or BHP inside the waistband I would do so only with a holster having a good slide shield to prevent contact between my body and the hammer/grip safety/thumb safety/ rear sight/etc.

I've been using Remora holsters for A-IWB carry, and I've been very happy with them. They have a sweat shield option, as well as a reholsterable option. They're not pretty for barbecues, they're practical and they've really worked with me (I must have a dozen of them for different guns). If these had been available in the mid-'80s when I started carrying, I would have probably saved $1k on various holsters that didn't work as well for me.

High rise waistband. Or taller than 5'9" . . . 5"ers are a little on the too-big side for me to carry comfortably, tho 4.25"ers work fine.

I have been using a High Noon Mr. Softy for the last several years and it's served me well, but it's a straight drop holster. FIST will make thin and ultra thin Kydex holsters to your request (I got one with a slight forward cant for AIWB).

Check out Dale Fricke Holsters. Dale makes several both IWB and OWB kydex holsters which are for appendix carry. I feel certain he offers them for the full size 1911.
