Ahhh....how far we've come since those distant days!!!

Here's a story about how Yale University is preventing fragile students from being "triggered" by having to see an image of one of those "assault muskets"!!!

From the WaPo, no less!!

Les.b This just shows us how in the last 50-80 years most of
our young people have been babied from being drafted and
sent to war with a real rifle to not being able to look at a
symbol of a rifle/gun. I was told a couple weeks ago how
todays college/university students are just burned out after
10 or 11 weeks and just can't handle a 16 week semester.
Poor things.

A 2% tax on tea sparked the fury for independence. Those Patriots must be spinning in their graves watching the govt. take 54% of everyones hard earned money with nothing more than a wimper. My how times have changed.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit, that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

My father used to give me a dime for every poem I could memorize. That is the first poem I remember memorizing.

"Stand your ground ! Don't fire unless fired upon ! But if they mean to have a war, let it begin here!" Captain John Parker
