i do kinda like the new ones. how durable are the new ones? i noticed they are a metal(forgot which haha) i think aluminum.

i looked at the diamond head my lgs, didnt care to much for them. i like the HK front style.

just what i heard sorry not read. price is kinda high on the troy sights too. i mean id sell the magpul sights first.

This interests me. How can you buy a product that uses Troy components or from a manufacturer (YHM, etc) who OEM from Troy. You all realise they make a ton of money from their contract with S&W and others. I hope you all boycott them as well.

My opinion is that TI makes great stuff, and I was not on that ridge with that snipper so I can not judge him.

+1 for Magpul! No problems with their mbus or any off their other products.

Sent from somewhere between the Ohio territory and the neutral zone.

I'm looking for folding at the moment so I can mount an optic

IMO, you're putting the horse before the cart. Your rifle already is equipped with a decent set of Magpul polymer folding back up sights. The Magpul polymer sights aren't the sturdiest on the planet, but they get the job done pretty well. A set of folding iron sights from a manufacturer that has a "go-to-war" reputation will cost $$$. IMO, save that $$$ for the optic you want.

I'll be honest with you, the reason I swapped out my set of Magpul polymer MBUS sights is because I wanted super tough Troy sights. Do I run my rifle hard or in a Red Dawn type scenario? No. I'm on a one-way range. The extra durability of the Troy sights is overkill for what I use my rifle for 99% of the time. Heck, I have my Magpul polymer MBUS sights in my spare parts bin ready to go. The Troy sights, like most everything else on my 15-Sport, is there for the mall-ninja fun aspect of AR-15 ownership.

Also, learn to shoot iron sights well and an optic becomes a "nice to have" and not a "necessary to have". Honestly, I have more fun shooting iron sights than with a dot. I have an AR-15 set up for iron sights only: A2-F front post and detachable A3 carry handle.

The best aspect of the A2/A3 style rear sight is that I can adjust for both windage and elevation off the rear sight. I don't have to fart around with using a tool to monkey with the elevation of the front A2 sight often.

How much are NIB troy battle sights worth? I got these on a trade and I'd rather sell them and put them towards my AR

Call Ellie at Samson Manufacturing. They make the OEM sights on the SIG Sauer AR type rifles and pistols. They are really nice people to deal with and they stand behind their products 110%.

I recently had a SIG Sauer 516P pistol come in direct from a distributor for a customer. The front sight was installed on the firearm and the front sight was missing the locking piece that keeps the sight in the up position. After two days of trying to reach SIG (if you think the wait time at S&W is long, try SIG Sauer), I called Samson.

I offered to purchase a new sight and then to attempt to deal with SIG Sauer on the original that was missing the vital part.

Ellie transferred me to the owner, who would not hear of it. He insisted that he be allowed to send me a brand new sight. He had Ellie send me a pre-paid shipping label to return the sight that had been on the firearm. They shipped the new sight immediately without waiting for me to return the original.

The new sight arrived. It was installed, and the old returned. I offered again to pay for everything on the theory that it was SIG's warranty issue, not Samson's. They would not hear of it. I think that speaks highly of the company and the people who run it.

By the way, just to give you an idea of the quality control at Samson, this happened just after the new year, and the Return Authorization number I was given was still a 2013 number, and it was number 1. When I pointed that out, they changed the Return Authorization number to a 2014 number, still number 1. They may be a small company, but they make good stuff, and they stand behind their stuff, even under circumstances that would indicate it was "not their issue" to correct.

As far as I am concerned, Samson makes good stuff and their products are at the top of my list for after market sights for AR type rifles.
