Are Mod 39-2 & Mod 59 Slides Interchangeable

I am in need of a replacement slide for my Model 39-2.
I am having a difficult time locating a slide for a Model 39-2

Can I use a Model 59 slide on my Model 39-2?

Hello Marty, yes, 59 slide is the same. De-cocker sticks out a bit.
Did you loose the orig. slide or break it?

If you are buying a complete slide assembly it should drop onto your 39-2 frame.
If you are buying a stripped slide make sure it is from the same era as your 39-2 as the barrel bushing changed from enclosed to horseshoe style and they don't interchange IIRC.

Could you not also use any 9mm 2nd Gen slide, as long as you remove the slide parts associated with the firing pin lock? Potentially even migrating the 39-2 firing pin over in to a 2nd Gen slide?

I'm not suggesting that this is a fantastic answer, as there are more 1st Gen top halves floating around the planet than 2nd Gen top halves, but if you come across one first...
