A couple of years ago Armalite came out with a semi -auto pistol i think it was the ar-24? it looked like a pretty nice outfit but i've never seen one, did it ever hit the market? were there problems with it or something? John

Good question, I saw the ads, but never saw the gun in any shops... Probably the issue, just did not get good distribution with dealers.

They looked pretty nice, but I always wondered why you wouldn't just get a CZ...?

I just traded one off.
It is a fine pistol, fit and finish is fine and it is accurate.
I didn't carry it and didn't shoot it in competition so it turned into a used 21-4.

I bought one when they were first released, and I agree. I just found it surplus to my needs after awhile, and sold it to a friend who shoots it regularly. He's happy with it as well.

My local gun shop has carried them for at least 2 years, priced in the low $400s. The fact that they don't use the standard CZ mags is a downer.

There's always a few on GunBroker.......I have had a full size CZ-85b 9mm for 6 years now, and never saw a need to get a Witness or one of the Turkish CZ clones. I wanted another CZ-75 type gun, so recently, well, I just bought a used CZ-75:D It's not like you can't get them.......I can see a "clone" of a rare or expensive gun, but cloning a pistol that's widely imported into the US is senseless. I remember reading that Tanfoglio started making their TZ-75, back when a real CZ-75 was unobtanium in the United States, and Tanfoglio filled a need for those wanting a CZ-75 type but didn't want to pay through the nose for one of the then-rare CZ's. Then CZ-USA opened up and now CZ's are everywhere, even Gander Mt.

The Amalite AR-24 is simply a Turkish made CZ-75 copy, made by Sarsilmaz I think......it's also an "Armalite contract" version of the same pistol Sarsilmaz makes for the Turk police and military. I would buy one as a "range toy" but I never saw a need for a copy of a pistol (the CZ75) that only costs about $500 brand new or can be found used for LESS than a new AR-24.

There are also Turkish copies of Beretta 92fs pistols, imported by ATI that are straight knock-offs of Beretta......... and Stoeger owns a Turk company that makes the Beretta Cougar clones, so they're kind of a "license made, Beretta supervised clone" more than a copy or knock-off.

I must admit to having a weak spot for "knock offs" of guns I already own......I think it's just fun. Back when I had a Beretta 92f, I thought about getting a Taurus PT92 just for "craps and giggles" so I could have the "copy" of my Beretta, but then sold the Beretta anyway.

I have only seen one or two. I was going to get one but the ads in gun magazines made them look like they were stainless the way the photo was taken and all I ever saw was black ones. Everything I have seen written about them says they are really nice guns.
