Armed Citizen Stops Shooter OKC

i saw an online news story about this just a few minutes ago.
the story i saw was from cnn's website.
i'm surprised that cnn posted it because it goes against cnn's anti gun agenda. they're more likely to post a puffed up story about how legally armed citizens are dangerous to themselves and others around them.

I predict someone will soon say (wait for it), "I love a story with a happy ending."

It's become almost de rigueur on gun forums.

CNN will report the news, especially if it concerns guns or shootings. They may put their own slant on the report, sure, but don't doubt they'll report it. It's news and it's business...it sucks in viewers on TV, it's click bait on the Internet, and those viewers see ads and commercials. It's money in CNN's pockets...and any other news media that covers it. And there already are a bunch of 'em covering it.

I thought it interesting that the 2 CNN links posted by Watchdog stated that the shooter was "gunned" down and the other 2 links said an armed citizen confronted and shot the gunman. A little different "phrase-ology" here.

Yep. Note that I mentioned something along those lines in Post #8: "They may put their own slant on the report..."

ABC News says this:

"The suspect in the shooting that injured multiple people in an Oklahoma City restaurant has died after he was shot by an armed civilian, according to police.

The customer was outside when the suspect walked into the restaurant and began opening fire around 6:30 p.m. local time, Oklahoma City Police Public Information Officer Bo Matthews said in a press conference after the shooting. The civilian then confronted the suspect and shot him to death, police wrote on Twitter.

Both the suspect and the civilian were armed with a handgun, police said."

CBS News puts it this way:

"Oklahoma City police said a man was killed after allegedly shooting two people in a restaurant on Thursday. The suspected shooter was confronted outside the restaurant by a bystander with a pistol, Oklahoma City police said.

Mathews said when the suspect exited the restaurant, he was confronted by a citizen who took out his own firearm, shooting and killing the suspect, KWTV reports."

People who complain that the so-called "mainstream media" won't report on stories like this are usually mistaken. But again, media are privately owned businesses. They're gonna report stuff, and they're gonna report it the way they choose, not how we want them to report it. Reporters who write stories are going to write them the way the boss tells them to write it...if they want to keep their jobs, that is.

I couldn't care less whether the media or some random reporter has an agenda or not. I'm grown up enough and smart enough to see/read the reports and make up my own mind about stuff.

The "agenda" complaints aren't about you. We don't like the way the general public is exposed to the story, the negative slant designed to vilify guns.

True, but I notice.....

I notice that if there is a shooting in a place you wouldn't expect a shooting it's front page news and stays in the news until another shooting overshadows it. If there is a case of someone defending with a gun, there is an article and it goes away really fast.

I'll bet that if a great many people were vocal about using guns in a defensive situation, the reports would be more prominence. The media doesn't care anything about who's shot or about 2A rights , as long as they have something to put in their news.

And they know that they can smell good by being anti gun with the comforting thought that they will have plenty of bad shootings to report on.
