Any love for Armscor .22 ammo? Anybody have much experience
with this stuff? It's often available at pretty good prices. I
wouldn't expect it to compete with some of the better ammo
like CCI std velocity LRs but I wonder how it compares to some
of the other cheap .22s. Their .22 Shorts are bargain priced
compared to the generally overpriced Shorts from other
manufacturers. Any experience? Thanks.

i have tried it many times,,,, VERY unpredictable,,,,, worse then white box winchester,,,,,, tried many rds in my bolt and a lot of them sounded like the bullet never got out the barrel but they did,,, i will NEVER buy it again,,,,, i sat 1 day just burning through it just to get rid of it

I haven't bought any Armscor rimfire ammo, and if it is indeed worse than Winchester (which is dismal) I will continue to avoid it in future. That being said, I have fired a good deal of their 9mm, .380, and .45 centerfire rounds without issues.

We consider it a great load. I especially like their .357 magnum stuff. HOT as all get out and accurate. My advice? Buy with confidence.

I agree 100%, I purchased 3 X 500 round boxes and have had nothing but trouble with it. I would say at least 20-30 rds out of each box sounded like a little poof and the lead barely made it out the end of the barrel of my 15-22. Most recently I had one shot go poof and the next the shell casing blew out as if it was an OOB round. It blew out the extractor when it blew and the lead was 6" in the barrel which came right out using a cleaning rod. I was sighting in when it happened so I wasn't rapid firing. I contacted S&W about it and they sent me a free inspection gauge to see if the bolt was one of the recalls. Everything checked out fine. I've shot around 3500 rds through it and only found a few types that don't work well in this gun. Winchester ammo was about the same as Armscor and CCI Stingers would misfire every 2-3 shots. Here's a couple pics after it happened.

I also used Armscor in my Henry model 22 Magnum (that I received as a gift) and it wasn't very accurate. 1-2 shots would be within 1/2" group then the next few would be 2"-3" off in any direction at 100 yds. I always shoot from a bench rest when testing ammo and it failed miserably. Also it is very dirty ammo, specifically .22 lr. It is unbelievably waxy and we think that is what caused my problem with my 15-22. There was what looked like a very small ring of wax just inside the chamber that may have caused the shell to not chamber all the way. I always clean my gun after every outing when using this ammo so it wasn't due to being neglected in that area.

Had the same experience as RKDad. Tried a box of their 22 magnum in my Marlin and Ruger American rifles. Very erratic performance as it did not group well and tended to string the shots instead of a small cluster. Only bought them as no CCI 40 grain was available during the shortage.

thats why i shot them up in my bolt action because of a lot of mouse farts,,, my 15-22 wouldnt eat them because failure to eject because of low charges,, even my marlin 60 didnt like them,, so 1 day i got ticked off and got the bolt out and had a good day of shooting,, many i had to pull the bolt and look through the barrel to make sure it cleared,,, sounded like a cap,,,, now center fire in 9mm i have never had any issues,,, fantastic shooting,, there is a farm and fleet store here that had them on sale for about 7 a box for 9mm,,,, i bought about 300 worth,, i still have a bunch,,,, now for the 22s,,, i think i have maybe a 1000 left,, at 1 time i had at least 6-7000,,, i hated them,,, like it was said too,,, they was BAD dirty

I bought 2 bricks of their .22LR just before the great ammo drought of 2009. I experienced a great number of bulged and ruptured cases. Failures to extract in all action types. Armscor sent me a shipping label and gave a full refund. With the scarcity of rimfire ammo at that time if it had functioned in anything I would have kept it. I have not tried any of their other products.

I believe the larger calibers may be more consistent than the .22 ammo as I'm sure quality control is greater as is the danger of producing substandard ammo. There's a lot of bad ammo out their and I guess the old saying, you get what you pay for, is true here.

It's always worked well for me. For some reason it was almost always available during the Obama scarcity years when you couldn't get anything else.

I tried a few boxes that were given to me. They were worth what I paid for them. Dirtiest ammo I've ever shot. Really bad in my 617 to the point that after one cylinder full I had to clean the gun.

Perhaps their centerfire ammo is o.k. but I will never shoot their 22s again.

Armscorp field testing.

We had an old brick of Armscorp 36 grain high velocity hollow-point that has been ridding under the seat of the side-by-side for at least a year.

We took it out this morning and shot every single round in a Belgian Browning rifle, K22, kit gun and a little Ruger .22 auto (I think they are called an SR).

We did not experience a single jam, FTF, bulged or ruptured case, low-powered/underpowered/overpowered load in 500 rounds—10, 50 round boxes.

I have noticed the film or “waxiness” on these rounds mentioned in some of these posts. It was interesting that shooting them in the heat (it warmed up quickly this morning, the guns were all hot—it was a lot of shooting) we noticed the waxy feeling turning more into what I would describe as some sort of very light oil. I guess the coating is from the production process but it does not seem to interfere with the ammo’s function.

I have not noticed it being any more dirty than any other rimfire, but we are not connoisseurs of rimfire ammo. We use it on critters, cans and plinking so I have never been too particular, especially considering this brink spent a year or more bouncing around under an ATV seat.
