I just bought a few boxes of Armscor 22lr and fired about 40 rounds through my old Ruger Standard Auto and got 8 duds. I tired twice to fire the duds and none fired. I then ran a few clips of Federal ammo through it with no problem. Perhaps the Federal is softer but I did not have my 17-1 with me to check this out thoroughly. Did anyone here have any issues with Armscor? I have used their 9mm and 38/357 with very good results.

Just before the Obama era ammo drought I bought two bricks of this stuff at a good price. It was well into the drought before I tried to fire any. Besides FTFs I had swelled/burst cases and hard extraction. I emailed Armscor and they offered to either replace or refund. Price had about doubled a year into the shortage, but I cut my losses and took the refund. I had given a half dozen boxes to unprepared friends, relatives and neighbors before I tried to use it myself. Had to call & apologize.

This and some truly nasty Russian shotshells (don't recall the brand) are the only ammo I recommend less than S&B. Russian stuff fouled worse than black powder.

I am a target shooter and the last case <5000>without a misfire and very accurate. Send me some that don't work in your gun and I will test it.:) At todays price it will go bad before I give .09cents a pop.

My Ruger MkII doesn’t like it. I get a jam about every 4 rounds. But ya gotta remember 22’s are finicky

Worst stuff I have ever bought. Got a few bricks when ammo was tight, tried a few boxes through bolt rifles and the stuff wouldn't group at all. Went bang but plain old lousy - 5" groups at 25 yds and such.

Folks shooting Mini 14s made fun of me .....;)

I have no had good luck with Armscor 22LR ammo the few times I used it years ago. Sad to hear it hasn't improved.

I was shooting some crummy ammo the other day. When I pulled the trigger I saw what looked like unburnt powder come out the muzzle. It sounded like I was dry-firing the gun. Inspection showed the bullet had exited the (rifle) bore.

Please excuse the OT post. My bad.

I'm not familiar with Armscor .22. Is this supposed to be good ammo or is it cheap bulk stuff?

You can get pretty good ammo by spending a little more on something like CCI SV. It feeds, functions, fires and is reasonably accurate in just about anything... if it's available. I've bought it by the case for years, but my last purchase was about three years ago.

Made in the Philippines. Never had any but this thread prompted me to look on line. One video reviewer said it was very waxey coating. Accurate in some firearms not so much in others like a lot of bulk ammo.

I bought a case of the SV Armscor from CMP a couple of years ago. The price was right and no one else had ammo available. I have shot 3000 of the 5000 rounds with three failures to fire, that’s as good or better than CCI in my experience. Accuracy is equal to Aguila SV but it is dirty. I never let my guns go until they fail but I don’t think it would take 200 rounds to get there. I shoot it in a S&W 15-22, 100 round matches. I clean every 100 rounds and have no problems.

As an update, I went to the range today and saved the duds from yesterday and used them in my 17-1. None of them fired which proves to me that the Ruger was not the problem. I found about 5 more duds when using the 17-1 and noticed that this ammo is very hard to chamber in the S&W due to their waxy coating. Whatever I have remaining I will used in the Ruger since it can chamber about anything I have ever used and will buy no more Armscor 22lr.
Thanks all for your replies.

I bought three or four bricks a couple of years ago and probably haven’t had 4 or 5 misfires. I find it really interesting how many people have problems with 22 ammo. I have probably a dozen 22 rifles, revolvers and semi autos and shoot mostly the cheapest thing I can find. I shoot a lot of Federal bulk I buy at Walmart but I’ve shot thousands of rounds of CCI, Fiochi, Winchester, Aguila and Remington. There are probably a few other brands in there too. My wife has several 22 also and neither of us have many misfires, matter of fact it’s quite rare.

I don’t doubt what folks say but I wonder if some of this is due to monkeying with springs or old springs or just poorly maintained and dirty guns. I thoroughly clean our guns every range trip and keep them properly lubed and we don’t have a problem. One problem I find the will consistently cause misfires is carbon buildup inside the chambers of a revolver. Because I’ve seen this happen I carry a bronze brush and brush the chambers(s) if it starts to be difficult to chamber a round fully in the cylinder.

I bought several cases of Armscor during the Obama-era .22 shortage, and never had a problem with them. My 10-22 ate them like candy, and my 617 and Single-10 had no problems. Not as accurate as CCI's, Federals, and Aguila's in the same guns, but never a dud. About out now, but I have an excess of CCI, Federal, Aguila and Winchester to use.

Eley and Lapua notwithstanding, .22lr from all the major manufactures doesn't seem to be as consistent in accuracy and reliability as when I was a kid, especially bulk ammo. Federal recently replaced a 330 ct bulk pack, because 5 in 10 were squibs. They said it was a lot with bad crimps. I have better luck with 22WMR.

Tried the Armscor when I could not find anything else for my 22 magnum. Found it tended to string the shots rather than produce a tight group. The CCI and hornady brands works best for me.
