...Anybody have any idea about when this was taken??? ...

'Aunt Bee, of the Andy Griffith Show.

1936'

Don't know if that's someone's guess or not.

But this site says the Aunt Bee thing incorrect and just an internet regurgitation.
They say it's actress Gloria DeHaven in a publicity still photo for a movie in '49.

??, nice picture either way,,,

I guess we all looked a lot different when we were young. I can't say too much about someone else eating too many pies!

As a side note, I heard she disliked all of the other cast members on the AG Show. That seems odd to me. You'd think that she would have been overjoyed to have a steady job like that, being an older actress and all. If you like the job, make yourself like the people! I know it wasn't Shakespeare, but come on, a good paycheck has to count for something!

Maybe 20 years ago I heard that just before a live radio interview she told the announcers, "I don't care what we talk about, just don't ask me about that TV show.".

You can't get mad at her, she's Aunt Bee!

I dont remember the name of the movie but it was made in the 1940's and Aunt Bea played a Communist in America where they were trying to take over the Government or some such nonsense and She looked just like Ant Be did on the Andy Griffith show.It was strange.

Time for a bit of thread drift:

While I always liked Frances, the character actress that
always grabbed my attention was Kathleen Freeman.

Who, you say?

OK, how about The Penguin (Sister Mary Stigmata) in
The Blues Brothers.

Or how about the busy body landlady/town's woman in
Support Your Local Sheriff or Support Your Local Gunfighter.

She appeared in more than 150 films, often uncredited as
was the practice for films until around the 1970s.

I the late 70's, I played a Christmas Seals fund raiser in Siler City with Cliff Miller (Earnest Tubbs' former guitar player)) Francis was the featured speaker and gave an impassioned plea.

Ah the life of a rock star—Siler City North Carolina at a Christmas Seals fundraiser with Aunt Bea and Earnest Tubb’s guitar player. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards could only be so lucky!

Yeah, she was rather haughty on the set......

I read, don't know if it's true that she talked to Andy G some time before her death and apologized for being so 'difficult'.I guess beck then older granny types were pretty much in demand, I doubt she would have gotten far today, at least after she started looking like Aunt Bea.

BTW: Yeah, it should be 'BEa' for Beatrice but everybody knows who you're talking about.:)

I believe everything....

It is, in fact, Gloria Dehaven...*not* Francis Bavier.

Tim

I believe everything on the internet.......

Here's an entirely different one:

Frances bavier - Google Search

I don't have proof that any of the pictures shown are her that doesn't look like Aunt Bea.

Gloria Dehavan looked old when she got old, too.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Frances+bavier&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjJ85uv8a_XAhXpz1QKHRawCGQQ_AUICigB&biw=642&bih=307#imgrc=3EyYEmZvd4pUuM:]Frances bavier - Google Search[/url]

My wife can identify any actor, sometimes by just the sound of the voice. I think she got me interested in finding out more about these folks along with Me TV where you saw many of thme repeatedly on several show. I wouldn'lt have know Robert Stack was a wolld class skeet shooter if not for my intenet travels.

Kinda like Barbara Eden, too. Last time wearing her 'genie suit'

barbara eden last time wearing Jeannie costume - Google Search

I never got to talk to her. I wish I had.

I don't know if it's true or not? but i've heard she was a recluse. Can't blame her any if she was. The gal who played Alice on the Brady Bunch lived in San Antonio and was also a recluse.

She was in a bunch of movies and TV shows.

I recognize her from many-a-tv show-westerns and Hogan's Heroes. She was General Burkhalters Sister in the series.

She was also on Perry Mason. See "The Case of the Crimson Kiss".

About spelling:
Wikipedia has "Aunt Bee"
I wouldn't argue with "Bea" either.
Actually, I thought it was "Aunt B". You know, like in the Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy has an "Auntie M". (Ok, that last bit was a joke.)
