Recent purchase. My gun budget is busted for the next few months. Trying to get more info on this one. There is a member on the other forum who is retired Austin PD and has the PD records. APD #505. SN puts it to 76-77. I added the checkered targets to replace the aftermarket grips it was sporting.

Has the other forum member confirmed that its an Austin Tx. PD gun? If not, a factory letter will tell you which dept. it was shipped to and when.

The Austin PD Model 27s are Great revolvers.

Mine is not as pretty as the one that GaryinOKC has pictured, but it started me on the path toward more of the 3 1/2" beauties. I liked the balance of the N-frame snubby. I purchased mine 31 years ago . . . . back before we were all buying off the Internet. Back then we all used ShotGun News :) I remrmber seeing the ad and knowing that I just had to buy one.

The top one is a six shooter and the bottom one is an eight shooter

Great looking shooter!

Perfect configuration.
It used to be, but the 8 shot Model 27s are the cat's whiskers. Pictured below is one example of every 8 shot Model 27 configuration that the Factory has offered so far
