While many folks made the trek to Tulsa this weekend I drove 10 minutes to Round Rock TX for the Austin show.

I arrived 10 minutes before the doors opening at 9Am and already there wee about 200 people in line waiting to hand over 10 bucks to enter.

While waiting in line I bought an excellent condition nickle Model 59 with 2 S&W orange follower 15rd mags from the gent in line ahead of me(no box papers or tools)for $350.Once inside I dealt the Model 59 plus $200 in cash for an S&W Model 686-4 2.5"(only the gun). The 686-4 has incorrect square butt combats on it

A while later I bought some old 22lr ammo for $30 and an original 14rd Model 59 magazine that had no rust or dent but only about 40% of the original blue finish for $20.

This was the best show I've been to in the past 3 years. There was plenty of primers,powder,bullets,pre-lock revolvers and 1st,2nd and 3rd generation Smith autos.

Naturally no modern gun show would be complete without the jerky and huge amount of AR stuff.

I'm thinking of going back tomorrow morning to get a few small items I saw but walked past today.

As usual, tupperware and AR made up about 80% of the show floor space.

Freedom Munitions had there usual show out the door prices on their own brand stuff plus a metal ammo can of 1000 Fiocchi 115gr FMJ 9mm for $200 OTD.

I liked a pre-lock 586L I saw that came out from under the table but the price was not to my liking.

There was an excellent condition 3" Model 66 with box, papers and tools for $1300 that I walked away from also.

CCI pistol primers were $28/1000 OTD

No Federal primers anywhere to be seen.

You came out a winner on that deal. With the combats selling for skyrocketing prices, you probably got the gun for half price! Plus a hard to find barrel length! Great deal

The front sight on the 686-4 was painted white but I was able to remove it without buggering anything up.

Tomorrow I'll visit the indoor range and see if it shoots as good as it looks.

I would have liked to keep the nickle Model 59 but it made the 686-4 deal possible.

The 3 Model 59s and 1 39-2 in my safe are all blue models so an excellent condition nickle would have been nice.

The Austin show is too small for me, Corpus show quite a bit better and bigger. And besides-any show that allows mike miller to sell at--is off my list. The guy is a liar and thief AND way over-priced. Glad his exwife got most of his Luger collection.
