Lois bought a Duralast Gold Battery 8/10/24.

She did not drive the car last week.
The battery is a dead as Abraham Lincoln.
Going to have to use home grade charger.
Jumper cables will not reach

Went to the Autozone dealer - store 1053 - Benton KY.

Mentioned the problem.
NOT HAPPY WITH EMPLOYEE RESPONSE!

When I mentioned "not driven last week" ...
Younger "Intelligent" "Donkey" immediately said
"That's the problem"
Older employee in red shirt was smart enough to keep his mouth shut.

My response was that if your batteries will not hod a charge for a week they are trash.
I remember, in my college days, that my car might not be driven for WEEKS and the battery would still start the car.

Currently I have a charger on the battery.

So by their logic, if you go on vacation it is perfectly acceptable for your car not to say art when you return.

Just because a person works at an auto parts store doesn't mean that they have the slightest idea about automobiles, their components or mechanics. Most of them do not! Have them check/test your battery, it may simply old and no longer capable of holding a charge. Some car batteries do not last more than three years, even though I have had some batteries last seven or more years in my cars. I have also fad a battery go dead over-night. When this happened I could always find the reason by checking switches.:p OR, the dome light may have been left on or a door left slightly ajar allowing lights to be left on!

Do you believe everything you are told by any gun store employee? Same situation

The battery is a month old and it's dead!?

Why didn't you take the battery back and get an exchange, refund, or even tested?

Do you have a draw that's draining the battery?

You have a bad battery, period. I bought the same model battery last year -- three times. The first two each failed within 4 days. The only reliable advice to give for buying batteries today -- forget the ratings and such, buy the one with the best replacement guarantee. You WILL need it.

Back when, at the local auto parts store, there was a guy behind the counter chewing on a cigar, wearing a shirt with his name on it, and dirty FRAM ball cap. He'd know exactly what you needed and filled you in with any details you might need to do the job. He might not be the most pleasant individual, but he knew his business. Sadly, real auto parts stores and the people who worked at them are going the way of the Dodo bird. We're left with the type the OP encountered, a big box auto parts store employee who knows how to tap a keyboard, but little or nothing about what he/she is selling.

Granddaughters battery went dead couple months ag when she was visiting. Went to auto zone and bought an Interstate battery with 3 year warranty. Free replacement within 3 years with no questions. Told her to keep receipt in glove box and note to go to any auto zone store BEFORE 3 years and get another battery.

Car was parked where we could not use jumper cables.
Car could not be started and moved until battery was charged!
Battery was still being charged when I went to store to complain about a one month battery.

Check for current drain.
Lifted HOT terminal from battery.
Connected charger to HOT and GROUND.

Complaint about the employee has gone to corporate office.

My wife's 4Runner sit in the garage for two to three weeks at a time. Starts right up when she gets in it.

Bought a battery from Autozone or similar place. It died a month later on our way to Chicago. Pulled into the local Autozone and they tested it. DEAD! Got a new battery. Many apologies and a new battery.

Three months later, same thing! Back to the store and this time a new battery from the latest shipment. Still going strong!
