"Bakelite" stock repair ?

I'm pretty sure the grips on this old Colt 1903 are Bakelite. You will see a fine vertical crack to the left of the grip screw. When I got the pistol that grip panel was in two pieces. I used epoxy to put it back together. I do not remember the brand or type.

I fix old Bakelite with JB weld (the old slow setting stuff, not the new Kwik). I also mix some black resin dye into it to get the color right. Nice thing about using JB is that it will fill voids and can be shaped to match. (you can get resin dye at any fiberglass supply places)

What kind of stocks? What gun?
Are they actually broken into pieces, or cracked?
How thick are they?

If they're broken into pieces, you would have to reef out the back a little and insert small metal pins in the adhesive for stability, otherwise they'll just keep breaking, I would think.
