Bank Refuses to Send Wire Transfer

Back when I was foolish enough to finance cars, a dude cut and run.
To Cali. I finally got it Repoed, then he called me.
Now he’s got the money!
He sent me I think $6,000 by Western Union.
I’m down near the Base and I see a Western Union sign on a neighborhood type Grocery.
I go in and ask the Manager if I can get my money there.
He says sure.
Checks my ID and checks the system.
You don’t really think I have that much money, now do you?
What do you got?
He had not very large money orders, $100 I think.
I took then to the local bank where I had my Business Account.
Yes they knew me.
Yes they gave me a hard time when they saw all those money orders.

5% interest rate is the highest ever. Money laundering: should be some kind of reason for the banks or Fleds to aggravate someone over their own money, like a law vs our rights. Courts would most likely throw it out. It DOES offer Fledrul employees a reason to hire more guvment.
More guvment, questioning our rights. My money after paying taxes all my life and treat me like a crook. I'm a good bit aggravated they are treating regular citizens like this. Where in the IReS handbook does it give them the right without probable cause? I've witnessed their employees bypassing their own rules against honest people. No notice of intent given. These guys work FOR us.

I can see a well-dressed, young lady, dressed to kill hooker
trying to deposit 2K in Vegas: and where did you get this money? Maybe one will disclose how they actually got it while in line at a bank.

None of of these questions from the bank have anything to do with the IRS. It's all about fraud and money laundering, the IRS play catch up later. Also, the bank staff are given NO discretion about who they do and don't ask. Some of the best fraudsters have been small town guys working the personal angle in their community and at financial institutions. So yeah, we're all under suspicion now.

And I'll say again, this all goes on because the governments of the Western world have coerced the banks to do this, making them unpaid snouts. Would you prefer a massive increase in the fraud department of the FBI employing thousands of agents that we, the taxpayer, have to fund? By and large the sort of transactions most of us here are ever likely to do are not of any interest to the banks or the governments. They are looking for hundreds of thousands, to millions, to the billions that drug and terrorist organizations (one and the same IMHO) want to launder and move around.

I still have a bank account I opened 30 years, before the era the deep probes. It has since been assimilated into a big national bank. I have never signed an updated agreement or supplied them with any additional details. I guess I'll hang on to it even though the service now sucks.

We all surely realize that shoplifters exist. Being insulted because a store asks to see your receipt on the way out seems to me to be the attitude of small-minded numbskulls desperate to prove their self worth to themselves.

"Hey, I told that old man/young girl to stuff it when he/she asked to see my receipt! Ha ha! I sure showed them not to trifle with me!"

What nonsense.

$600? Give me a break. On the outside you are correct, but on the whole scheme of things? There is, or will be, more than meets the eye.

Who do you think are making the banks do this? Probably the Federal Reserve.

Cash businesses that deposit cash every day or week, people who own several businesses: there are so many things I'd concentrate on. Large purchases with cash. People living beyond their means. I watch a lot of movies and TV.

"Don't get me wrong. I look away, others look away; but that's the difference between a man and a king." Big difference between trying to catch someone, or trying to make things better. Wire transfers in the tens of thousands or millions from nation to nation: If the people we are already paying did their jobs right, we wouldn't have to worry about so much money. It's bigger and a lot more complex than most could imagine.
It's also global. We strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.

I kept cash out of almost every paycheck I ever got. Good advice.

Wow - you must work for OTA! Technical Assistance | U.S. Department of the Treasury

If you aren't doing complex money laundering investigations and financial systems security at a national level right now, you may not have sufficient information to properly form an even marginally accurate opinion.

My plan is to have a machinist help do chemical formulas for liquid hydrogen rocket fuels - what could go wrong?

I see it differently when it comes to Walmart. Deciding to switch to self-check and then funneling customers through a check point at the door, to cut down on employees, is an inconvenience that I don’t care for. If the exit line is long, I bypass the checkpoint. Nobody has chased me into the parking lot. Bottom line is this is one of the reasons I quit going to Walmart. I’m not a checker and prefer some level of customer service.

Still not clear on exactly why the OP’s Bank refused to execute the transfer.
What if he had sent them a check?
Would they refused to clear it?
The last time I had a Snag with my Credit Union.
Been a member since 1977, nobody who works there was born.
I deposited a $100,000 + check.
The manager decided to extend the hold time.
Why? Because it was much larger than my usual account balance.
So true! I think I have $6k in that account right now.
I pointed out that it was a local Title Co check written on a local bank.
He was not impressed!

As I said above, some of the best scams have been committed with using the "Oh you know me and that's just come from Bloggs' Bank up the street". With banks now it's all about caution, not discretion.
