Barrel length

I'm kind of new to the forum. I've been watching items related to model 19-3s especially when value is mentioned. I haven't seen much mentioned about 6" barrels. Is there a difference in value between barrel lengths? I have a 6" and am wondering if I can assume it is valued close to what others have shown here with 2 or 4" barrels?

Shorter barrels usually bring a little more. More concealable.

The values have changed over time, along with shooters' preferences. Right now, the 2-1/2 inchers are selling for the highest prices, then the 4's and then the 6's, all other factors being equal.

I think the 4" sells for a little more than the 6". Wasn't 4" the ideal length, per Bill Jordan?

As a general rule as the barrel gets longer the value drops.

I think all the previous post are giving you good information. I will have to add that if a buyer wants a 6" M19 to target practice and hunt with the price might balance out. IMO Don

Thanks guys, I purchased originally for hunting and target. Kinda wondered about its value, but didn't see any 6" models in the forum. Fortunately, I'm not planning on selling it. It was literally my first handgun.

Barrel lengths calculation

Most gun barrel lengths are figured from 8 3/8 inches.
Some figure their velocities by shooting real guns, others do not.
If you do not then subtract 75 feet per second for each/every inch you subtract from 8 3/8 inches.
If you shoot a real gun then subtract only 33 feet per inch.
