Barrel Length?

Would anyone be able to tell me how to correctly represent this Model 57's barrel length. I read it was made in 6" along with 3", 4" and 8 3/8" with a short run of 5" barrels. I want to call this a 6" but actually measures 5 7/8".
Thanks for any help, generally a Ruger man but find these S&W's to be fascinating.

Your gun has a 6" barrel (nominal).

That would be considered a 6". A little variation in length is not unusual for a S&W.

Lucky, I believe the factory considered a 1/4" + or - to be in spec. for barrels.

I seem to recall reading that S&W barrels were usually either 1/8 inch shorter (or longer) than the advertised length. Just now, I do not recall why that is, but I am not at all surprised yours measures 5 7/8 inch. Yours is correctly referred to as a 6 inch barrel.
