Barska Spotting Scopes

About a month ago, I picked up a Barska scope at Wally World, with rings, on sale for ***$16.00*** I put it on my Remington Nylon 66, and it is awesome. For the price of a Big Mac, fries and a Coke, it is an incredible value--and disposable. I'm very impressed with it.

I bought the same 20x60 spotting scope a few years back, and love it. Holds focus while zooming in and out. Came with a short tripod which is perfect for a shooting stand or table, and a hard case and a bag.

I purchased a Barska 20-60X spotting scope, must have been less $100.

I took it to a 500 yard rifle match and compared against my 20-60X Pentax. The Pentax with eye piece was about $1K.

When zoomed, the edges of the Barska field of view were blurry. When I looked at the target bull, with the Barska I could see the color difference between the target pasters and the black bull. With the Pentax, I could see white edges on the black pasters. Overall the image in the Barska was a bit green.

I gave that Barska away, but really , for the money, it was a deal.

For $65.00 more, this Celestron was much better optically

I remember in the 1970's, $100 Tasco spotting scopes did not have the ability to pick up 22 bullet holes at 100 yards. The $100 Tasco scope was a cheap scope at the time, you could buy them in the Sporting Goods section of K Mart. We have come a long way in optics.

The Barska just sort of piqued my interest. I aquire spotting scopes and have 19 so far. I have a Bausch & Lomb, Herter's, U.S.military issues, Kowa, Leupolds, and several house branded. Don't need it, may offer them $50.00 for it to set on the shelf with the rest.

The Barska spotter I use is well above its price point in value, IMO.

I don't use it for 200 yard 5.56 shot holes either. But it is indeed a surprisingly good little scope for the price.

I purchased one for next to nothing a few years ago and it does what I need it to do. For the record I rarely ever use it beyond 200 yards.

They were asking $65.00 for it. I ask the shop manager what his best price was, as it was used. He said $50.00 and I said sold. Got the hard case, soft case, carrying shoulder strap, scope and tripod. Felt it was a fair deal. Will take it to the rifle range next week to have a test run.

Took it to the range this morning. At 50 yards it was nice and clear on all settings. I will say the provided spotting scope stand leaves much to be desired. Will replace it with once from my collection. Overall am glad I bought it. Stronger in power than my Leupold (15-45X), but still like the Leupold better.
