Finished my build, just wanted to show off! :) Just kidding, but seriously this forum was a lot of help for me, just seeing builds and coming up with ideas on what would work on this gun. I thought I would post a few pics, maybe it'll help someone else building theirs. Oh, and it is Massachusetts EBR (Evil Black Rifle) compliant, or at least it will be when I "permanently" fix a Magblock into my Magpul mags.

Now if only I can find some ammo!

List of gear:
Troy TRX 13.8" low profile battle rail (w/ low profile gas block)
Troy pop-up full sized battle sights
Magpul fixed MOE Riflestock
Magpul AFG2 Angled Fore Grip
Magpul Precision Rail Monopod
Atlas BT10 bipod
JP Tactical Compensator Black .308 cal .750 barrel
Leupold VX3 6.5x20
Burris Scope Mount
ERGO Tactical Deluxe Grip with Palm Shelf
Pelican 1750 Long Case

Let me know how that JP Tactical Muzzle works out. Is it the standard or large? Thanks

Oooooh, that's nice! Good luck on the ammo. Hopefully you can score some soon.

It's the large profile. Will get to the range next weekend, will let you know how it works out, thanks.

JP Brake

Looking foward to your review on the JP Break. Hope it helps with muzzle climb.

I do like the brake, here's the problem, I never fired the rifle before it was put on, so I cannot say exactly how much difference it has made. I personally have no problem with the recoil of this rifle, but do have extra natural padding :), and have changed the stock. This is also my first foray into a larger caliber rifle. I do have a .223/5.56 carbine with a brake, but they cannot really be compared. I did do the research on it though, and it is very well reviewed for recoil reduction and muzzle rise. As far as the looks and quality, I like the JP brake a lot, looks great, especially on the compliant model barrel.

Thanks for the feedback. You are taking the same road as I and not firing the rifle till you get it how u want it.lol I think I will fire it with the stock flash hider and install the brake at the range. It's gonna be at least a month or two before I fire BC I just sent the bolt/carrier to get NiB coated and Troy told me a month on the hand guard.

That is pretty much the same configuration I intend to do.

How was the install of the Magpul MOE rifle stock? Could you give me more details on that install? You needed to change out the buffer, tube, and spring right? Which parts did you get?

Thanx!

I had a gunsmith install the stock. I was having the brake put on, I had to have it pinned since I live in MA, so a gunsmith was required. Since it was there anyway, I had him do the full setup. You need a new buffer, spring, and tube. The GS provided the buffer and spring, here is the tube I bought, which works/fits perfectly:

DPMS Receiver Extension Buffer Tube AR-15 A1/A2 Stock

IMO, it's a nice stock, and a big improvement for those of us that cannot have a collapsible stock.

I'm going to attempt the same path with you, swapping out my collapsible for the Magpul PRS fixed. I picked up that exact same extension and just for the hell of it the LR-308 spring and buffer. They were cheap so no loss if they don't work. As I understand these M&P10s have some proprietary parts and I'm hoping this buffer setup isn't one of them.

I'd be REAL interested if anyone can point me to the known buffer and spring replacement for the fixed stock.

Oh, and nice rifle! :)

I'm going to have to follow and see if the .308 buffer and spring work out, I'd really like to throw the PRS on mine.

Smith & Wesson now offers a spacer for the receiver extension which will allow you to install a fixed A2 stock.

See this thread here:
M&P 10 stock options - AR15.COM

I just got off the phone with the CS # listed on the link and the guy seemed somewhat annoyed that people are calling that number asking for the spacer because they aren't available yet. He did say that for a FIXED stock you need THEIR proprietary buffer tube ($27) and that an A2 rifle tube won't work. Then couple that with THEIR spacer and you can use the spring and buffer that came with the M&P10.

I have to wonder if a normal spacer would work so long as you measured the differences in the distance.

Well, in the next week or so I should be able to post some comparison photos of all these different parts because I have about 4 different tubes, buffers and springs coming to my house. Let's see how they differ from the proprietary parts.
