Well, I have been looking for a shooter-grade 3.5" Pre-27 to keep my safe queen company. Growing up in the southwest, and being a fan of old lawman guns, I set my sights on finding that look. Little did I know, the one I would find was actually shipped to a sheriff.

After 6 months of bugging a Forum/S&WCA member, he finally agreed to sell it to me. It has the thickest set of stag grips that I have ever seen, and they are old...really old. The lanyard ring was a plus as well. Now, if I can just get Larry to sell me my dream holster for this gun, the rig will be done.

"Shipped July 15, 1954 and delivered to Albany Hardware Co., Albany, NY......This shipment was a single unit marked for the Dutchess County New York Sheriff's Department."

Here are some pics....a few from the previous owner and a few that I just took. I hope you like it.

That's a great looking gun. I lucked into a 3 1/2" -2 a few years ago. Very hard to find in California. It has an Arizona connection since it was used by a CA. Indian reservation cop who then used at the San Carlos Apache Reservation before coming back home. Of course I replaced the Pachmayrs with stag. That lanyard is a nice little bonus on your gun.

That is really a great package that you have there. Did you acquire some leather for it yet?

I found some leather last year. I did not buy it since I did not know if I would ever find the gun. So, unfortunately, I passed on the leather. I found the original ad and wrote to the Forum member that bought it. I just asked him last night if he would sell it to me...it fits the era and look of my gun. He said he would give me first dibs on it.

Come on everybody, TELL LARRY TO SELL ME THE LEATHER! :)

4-screw thats a beaut! !! Love the pronounced front sight pins . That gun looks about 98 % to me. Congratulations. Competition is stiff around here guys. Mighty stiff. :)

Nick,
That is a very nice Pre-27 and the lanyard ring and sambar stags are awesome too! Well.......I am the Larry with the Colorado Saddlery holster. As I told Jim when I bought it, "If I were to look up the perfect holster for a vintage S&W 3 1/2 gun, this would be it!" It has not been to enough BBQs with me yet, so prying it loose is not possible now. You do seem to have some very nice leather to store in in though!

Well Lar, unfortunately, that is not my leather either. The previous owner kept it, and that was his picture. He also kept the T-grip.

Well, get to some more BBQs, fast! And if you are not planning on going to any, then time to pass it along your new friend ;) I'll even wear it for a Super Bowl party next weekend....guess what's on the menu? BBQ pork sandwiches and bbq beans.

Is it because you do not like the Carolina vinegar-based BBQ? If so, I can send you some sauce.
