Managed to get 1 lb. of BE86. Anyone have a nice range load for 200 grain plated bullet. Don't have any data in my Lee manual and can't find one on line. Been using Bullseye but understand they have different burn rates etc.

BE86 is slightly faster than Power Pistol but supposedly less flash. I have a lb I was intending to use for 230 gr hardball but haven't got around to it yet. Professor Google says that 6.8 to 7.0 gr is a good accuracy load but can't confirm.

Saw that, looking for load for plated round nose. 200gr. PRN.

From a pressure/safety standpoint, the profile of the bullet is pretty much a moot point. The weight and friction going down the barrel is what matters.

Most plated bullet companies recommend using cast load data. The plated bullet is just about as soft as lead (maybe softer than hard cast lead) and it is even sized .001 larger just like cast. I used cast data all the time for plated and coated bullets.

Rosewood

Just loaded 15 rounds for test. Next range date I will run thru my 3 .45's.
Loaded 6.0 grains of the BE86 with the 200gr. PRN.

Yes, thanks for saving me the response to the OP…I was putting that information in my original response but deleted it thinking I was stating the obvious…guess not.

A friend likes the full load of 6.8 grs of BE-86 with his 230 gr FMJ, match loads.

The 6.0 grs load with a 230 lead bullet works well for a light target load.

He also likes WST for cheap target loads.

Good shooting.

Took (3) .45's to the range for test of the 6gr. of B86. #1 gun an accurized govt model. #2 a Kimber Target and #3 a Kimber Ultra. No problems with accuracy or function with any of the guns. My old arthritic hands want a little lighter recoil so I'm going to take a couple of tenths off the load (5.7 or 5.8) and see how that works.

Other than very slightly "faster", and flash suppressant, is BE-86 comparable to PowerPistol?

I have maybe 5-6# of BE-86, and plan to use for hot .357 SIG, .40 and 10mml. Possibly .357 Mag

Most plated bullets are advertised as safe up to 1200 fps. You should be able to use any data that matches your bullet weight.

I can get BE-86. I also like it for .45acp. It's not much good if one can't find any large pistol primers.:((sniffle)

Found this on alliants webpage. Have to search by powder.

Using the Berry 200 gr THP at an OAL of 1.160 I got the following out of a 5 in Bar-Sto barrel:

5.9 gr BE86=825 f/s

6.4 gr BE86= 882 f/s.

Sorta kinda maybe on first paragraph. If you looking for HOT!, neither is first choice. In .357 Mag either are 1200-1300 f/s producers with 125 gr JHPs out of a 6 inch barrel. PP will definitely light up the night in .357 Mag.
