For a change of pace I decided to try my belly band with my DS tonight (with jeans, usually use it with sweat pants)...have to say, very comfortable...really spread out the weight of the gun....and acts a little like a girdle...:)

I have this one....but I wear it at 3:00...I have rubber grips on my DS and it feels okay next to my skin...I think what helps is that the band doesn't move, so it doesn't chafe...you can wear it over your pants or under...I wear mine under since I have the room in my jeans...and when I wear it, it holds my pants up well so i don't need a belt...the gun is also more concealable than with a typical IWB since there is no hump where it attaches to the belt like on an IWB....

Belly Band Holster - The Original Bellyband - Concealment Holsters

There are many other brands with different styles and pockets for mags, etc.....so you might want to google around...:)

I have had a Bianchi Ranger belly band since the mid '90s. I carried the gun just behind my strong side (right) hip, exactly the same place I carried an IWB holster. The picture in the link looks very uncomfortable to me. I usually tucked my shirt over the gun. As long as it wasn't skin tight it was VERY comfortable, and surprisingly concealable. I often carried a subcompact Glock, but mostly I carried revolvers. I carried my M640-1 most, with a Bianchi Speed Strip in the little pouch ahead of the gun. I once did so for 17 hours straight, and literally never felt it. I also carried a few K,L and even N-Frame revolvers in this belly band, with the shirt tucked in over it. As long as there is a bit of blouse to the shirt, it hides even large guns well. To draw you yank the shirt out of the britches and draw. Not lightning fast, but quicker than you may think.
These are great holsters for specialized carry situations, and I highly recommend them.

I have the Original in black- and a white one from Ace Case. The Orig is 4" wide, the Ace is 6" wide, and the 4" is more comfy but the 6" has it's moments. I wear shorts a lot, and shorts that don't take a belt make the bellyband right handy. I try and wear a t-shirt under a shirt, so the band doesn;t touch the skin but sometimes it's not practical. But even without the undershirt it's not bad, and really useful when running to the store. Obviously the white one is if I wear a white t-shirt, the black sometimes shows.

Bellybands are the BOMB!!!!!

Anything that can help take a 44 to a 34,

and be able to TOTE YOUR ROSCOE TOO!!!!!

Great accessory, wives please take notice!

I use one made by Be Secure LLC that is designed to tuck your piece under your armpit like a vertical shoulder rig. As my chest relocates southwards year by year this gets more and more secure. :D

It also works OK for strongside carry.

Pat

I had poor luck with the "Original Belly Band" when all the stitching came undone on mine and I almost lost my gun on one occasion - but I liked the concept - so with the second purchase I went with the Galco model - comes standard with leather stitched on the inside of the two gun carry pockets. I have had very good luck with it. It seems to be a heaver material and is holding up well - 8 months old now - does a great job. Has a pocket for extra mags. cell phone or wallet etc.

for my needs... the now obsolete Bianchi Ranger Belly Band is the best of it's breed.

yes, sadly... it is no longer offered by Bianchi for retail sale.

i'm just the messenger....

Gould & Goodrich makes one that is 4" wide. Very
comfortable, esp. if you use the included body shield.
The shield is just a piece of synthetic fabric(?), but it
protects both you and the gun. Once it's on, you'll not
notice it is even there. The gun stays put, whether you're
standing or bending, or even lying down. Can't answer for
more active conditions. May be a little warm on hot/humid
days.
I'm experimenting with an Uncle Mike's belly band, but it
needs a flatter holster than the BodyArmor ones made for it.
These holsters are great if you're standing OR seated.

I have this:

Air Marshal 3 Holster

Not a belly band, but a similar concept and works well for us that have a larger belly as it sits above the belly and is like a shoulder holster. And comfortable against the skin.

It works really well and conceals anything I put into it including a full size 1911.

I stumbled on this when looking for a belly band and decided to give it a try. Best decision ever!

Mr. Davis seems to be a very happy guy and, from the looks of that model, I can see why. :)

Edit to add: But seriously... Do you have to wear these over a T shirt or can you comfortably wear them on the skin?

Actually you can wear the bellyband up high like that- no straps- but as long as it's tight- ya know, if your belly is smaller than your chest it would work fine. Mine used to be bigger, in the last coupla years I got it down to the same size as my chest.

That model kind of creeps me out.... I like women as much as the next guy but she just aint right!

And, yes they are designed to wear against the skin. If you watch the video I think he talks about it. And from personal experience I can say it feels comfortable on the skin. I usually wear mine over a t-shirt with a button up shirt on top of that. But I have worn it under a t-shirt on my skin.

She is a bit "mannish" looking in the face... if you ever get around to looking at the face. :)

Thanks for the info.

I tried the Kangaroo holster, but with nothing bigger than a
J-frame. Keeps the gun in place, and nice and tight against
the body. My only fault with it, was the sizes were small.
That meant that the holster fit way tight, and felt that way,
really constricting. I may try one more time to get one big
enough that I son't feel like I'm out of breath.
The concept of an under-the-shirt shoulder holster is
a great idea. I'd use a standard type shoulder holster, but how
would you anchor the holster to draw the gun? TACC1

After reading the post about the Kangaroo holster,
I tried a larger one for most of two days. Comfort was great,
firearm stayed tucked tight to body, and the height of the holster
due to its design, gives good access for grabbing the firearm,
and this is made esp. easy by just leaving the second button
down, unbuttoned. Looks okay, since it's warm out, although
I'd normally leave that buttonundone anyway, year-around.
Two thumbs up for the Kangaroo! TACC1
