Belt pouch for Concealed Carry

They look like medicinal pumps....

Or just plain old 1980's fanny packs.

I toyed with the idea of something like that or the sneaky Pete. I made a prototype (for a BG 380) and just didn't like it.

We have a Sneaky Pete and it's just too big. I can't believe anyone could wear one without drawing attention.

Hey Stevens, my aunt lives in Thibodaux!

Carrying a belt pouch nowadays is a giveaway you're carrying. They simply are out of style right now. A good holster is a better alternative.

I, too, am dubious of anything that can be seen as easily as the belt-mounted pouch at the center of discussion herein. After all, it's quite possible that an intended robber would actually see it as the store of valuables.

Thus, by wearing that pouch, you might turn yourself into a target of first opportunity as opposed to an observer who would lend aid to someone else by unzipping the case and extracting your weapon.

Disdaining "concealed" holsters that really aren't, I've gone completely to 5.11 Tactical S/S Holster Shirts which provides left and right underarm pouches that act as a holster.

Furthermore, your "rail" shape doesn't easily lend itself to concealing much of anything. I'm the same height but weigh +40 to yours.

My carry handgun alternates between a Llama .380 and a Star .380, the latter having been with me since 1971, my first backup weapon, the former a newer acquisition of about 4 months.

To me, and professionally so in the past, the point of concealing anything whatsoever is to undertake a guise that under ordinary circumstances or conditions does not allow a hidden item to be seen by others. Thus, I went "small" with the .380, but at the insistence of more senior members who had far more knowledge on the subject than I when at that particular time in life.

The 5.11 tactical T says it'll carry a .45 auto and I tend to agree with that thought but can imagine it being accomplished by only a relative few.

In addition to the 5.11, I wear shirts that have some built-in slack, such as a multi-pocket Columbia, but suggest you consider buying one-size larger than usual to be certain of providing slack in the underarm areas on BOTH sides of the shirt for a balanced look. You might be able to buy (or might already have) an "outdoors" shirt and be able to stay in your usual size. BUt the key ingredient is to stay "balanced."

I've been carrying daily in the above-described manner since becoming aware of the 5.11 shirt and no one has voiced any thoughts whatsoever of me carrying: whether bank, a gun store I frequent, the Post office (tell no one!) or anywhere else.

I would've very much appreciated that 5.11 shirt long before now.

Good luck.

Unless you're also wearing an Hawaiian shirt, plaid shorts, knee socks and sandals, your belt pouch is going to stick out like a Leisure Suit. Sorry...

Not my first choice of method there.
Not even sure I'd put it on the list.
Noise ... I hate noise. Be it the racking of a slide or the sound of velcro being torn loose. Its bad juju when your trying to maintain the element of surprise.

One of the nice things about pocket carry is that if you suspect a situation could go sideways you can have your hand on the gun, ready for a smooth draw, without attracting a lot of attention. Just a guy with his hand in his pocket.

Not too feasible with a belt pouch or fanny pack.

I think it would work better if different color...Aside from that I carry in a pack often. It works for me because I have to carry an EpiPen for my son and a few other things that I like to have with me...I buy my shirts a little loose and always have them untucked, so it is never seen....You have to decide what you want to carry (I always have a few flex cuffs, badge, knife extra mag, flashlight, pen, pad,ect.). I think it looks ok, because it is never seen...and that is the whole idea behind ccw...It probably isn't as easy to access as an open top holster with untucked shirt...but it is quicker than a tucked shirt and iwb...Keeping everything I need in it, assures that I don't leave home without the pen or anything... I would not ever wear the pack with a tucked in shirt but think is is perfect concealed...also keep my spare p938 in my pocket for a hands on gun....

Not a fan of carrying a gun in an "extra" accessory in plain sight; way to obvious IMHO. When they were in style 25 years ago that might be another story, but today - nahhhh.

I live in Las Vegas. Lots of folks, many locals and many torists wear fanny packs some of the time. I have one and no one here would give it a second thought.

I think that, like many things, the appropriateness of this form of carry is situation dependent.

The size of some of the new cell phones are up to this large and even larger. As CowboyKen said, appropriatness is situation dependent. I wear a Columbia vest, and the only comment I ever heard was "going fishing" or does it hold enough for a long trip? A LE friend warns about it being a "shoot me first" vest, but he wears them all the time. I only wear mine in the cool weather.
