Sent these in to be sharpened. Delivered back to me 10 days later. All it cost me was shipping.

Well worth it. I could never get them this sharp.

I simply don’t have the patience. So I carried another Benchmade while waiting for these to come back.

Their service is excellent. I’ve sent my two in a couple of times. Come back good as new except for the wear marks I’ve put on them. As noted only cost is the postage.

Earlier this year, I bought one from Midway while a sale was going on. To be honest, I was disappointed and sent the knife back. The knife fell short of what I expected from Benchmade. It may have been a counterfeit for all I know. The mechanism was rough and the edge looked like it was hacked with a rasp. Based on prior reports, I had been looking forward to my first Benchmade, but I was underwhelmed. I'd try them again, but I think I'd want to see and handle one first. I'm interested in your thoughts on the matter.

I have owned many Benchmade knives.

My experience with them over the last 20 years has been excellent. Their prices are decent compared to other companies and they are well made.

The Bugout(darker blue) is strong and light. The S30V blade is sharp and stays that way with normal use. Mainly opening boxes and packaging.

The Adira is another excellent knife. I wish the handle was thinner like the Bugout and I don’t care for the light blue color. But the Magnacut blade is outstanding so far. It has great corrosion resistance and stay sharp four times longer than the S30V.

There are many great knife companies. But as long as Benchmade continues to treat me well, I will buy more.

I have just one Benchmade knife; a Stryker I found laying on the ground while sitting on my Harley at a stop sign. Sent it to Benchmade for a free tuneup. Very impressed with their CS. I’ll be stopping by their booth at SHOT Show next month.

Life is all about choices. As adults, we are often free to choose which jobs to do for ourselves and which to pawn off on others.

I don’t mind sharpening knives. One of my jobs in college was cutting meat, so I got pretty good at it by necessity.

I will not, however, wash my own cars. Of course it’s easy; I just don’t want to, so I’ll happily pay someone else to do it for me. I’m sure some people take a dim view of this…but I honestly don’t care.

If you give me a whetstone or the most sophisticated sharpening system made, I can take a marginally sharp knife and turn it into a dull garden hoe in no time. Just not one of my talents. "A man has to know his limitations."

I carried a limited edition full size Skirmish for years. The pocket clip had the nasty habit of catching on the strike plate of doorways if I got too close. The knife would be ripped from my pocket and go flying through the air. The last time it happened the clip got bent and I had to remove it to bend it back. Then I lost one of the screws when reinstalling it. I haven't carried it since. I guess I should contact them for some replacement screws.

A friend of mine is a knifemaker. He told me that if more people knew how good the Spyderco Sharpmaker is he would never make another dime sharpening knives.

I try to keep my knives shaving sharp, even though I abuse the heck out of them. If you keep them sharp they are always easy sharpen again. I would think packaging and shipping a knife would equal the time and aggravation of sharpening one at least 6X.
But whatever. As long as you're happy.

I use a paper wheel on a buffer from Habor Freight keeps all my Spyderco knives hair poppin sharp in just minutes. Sold off all my Benchmades and switch to Spyderco, for some reason they are easier to sharpen and I like the blade steel better.

I bought a Worksharp Precision Adjust Elite sharpening system on Black Friday this year. I only own two Benchmades and with the PA I was able to get both of them sharper than they came new from the factory.

My Buck Knives and SAKs and my wife's Case Teapper are razors.

Kanew, I’m with you. I have one Benchmade, a Mini Osborne. When it needs sharpening I will send it to them. No way I could get it as sharp as them. One reason I bought from them.

I like Benchmade. Never tried out the customer service. Actually, I like some is the fixed blades best. My only observation is that the automatic knives ar a bit slow IMO.

Years ago the belt clip on one of mine caught the seatbelt as I was getting out. Ripped the clip right off and broke the scale.

Got it back with new scale, belt clip and sharpened. No charge.

I've used the warranty twice. Both times great service and came back in a couple of weeks. The first time was a used Griptilian that only needed a screw. Called and asked if I could get the missing screw they said they don't furnish parts and just send in the knife. Came back looking like new. They either did an amazing rebuild or it was a new knife not sure which.

I sharpen things, for a living. The difference between me and Benchmade? From me you get same day service!

I am not knocking Benchmade. They have good products and better customer service. And, I tell people who bring me Benchmade knives they can send them back for sharpening. Some do. Most prefer to have their knife back today.

If you don’t mind the wait, send it back. If time is a factor, look for someone like me, but local to you.

They shipped returned my automatic. They never asked about my status. Perhaps it depends on what state you live in.

Stop by any retailer that sells Benchmade knives and ask them if they have a Benchmade replacement clip and screw kit. I think if they're a dealer that orders/stocks a certain amount of product, the dealer gets a kit for free. They don't advertise it, and so they rarely use it.

I must have a couple of dozen Benchmade's. I've always heard their Omega springs break and are thought of as an achilles heel for the Axis Lock. I've never had one break, and never had to send one back to them.

I've been using the Spyderco Sharpmaker for 30 years and I'm a legend in my own Zip Code when it comes to sharpening friend's and coworker's knives.

But whatever. As long as you're happy.

I can usually touch mine back up to shaving sharp in about 45 seconds to 2 minutes. The key is to do the touch-up before the blade gets too dull.
