Okay, not another S&W revolver - but something I had wanted for some time. I liked the size of the Benchmade 630 Skirmish - finally decided I had to have one - a year or two late, of course, as they have been 'gone' for a while. I knew where there was still a new mini-Skirmish - BM-635BK. Finally, I elected to get it - a few hours late, as it was gone. My wife had bought it for me as a shocker of a tenth anniversary gift. Happy as could be with it - and finally a sharp BM out of the box - I enjoyed it - for a few days. Then I found a full size Skirmish. It arrived yesterday.
The mini-Skirmish is about the size of a Buck 172 Mayo TNT - or a large Sebenza. The Skirmish is larger! It is slightly larger than my Kershaw JYDII CB - my previous 'large' folder standard. It, too, came sharp. Both are S30V blades - and Ti frame lock handled. Lockup is great - no slop in the blades - and a fine/even edge grind on both. I am not sure about the EDC of the full-size - it will see some - but that mini is more 'pocket friendly'. I removed the clips from both, just to reveal a slight wear from the clip rubbing on both of them. I think I know what my wife paid - that plus my Skirmish summed is less than what a used no-box 630 was listed for on a knife-vendor's table at a recent local gun show. I did great.
The current BM Ti goodie is the 760BKLFTi - with a tanto blade of CPM-M4. I've looked it over repeatedly locally - I just don't like the tanto blade. The Skirmish series is more my style. If you like them - the 630 & 635 - grab one soon - they are getting scarce.
