Best .38spl. non+P SD Ammo

I dont understand using a hollow point in a non plus P. Velocity is going to be about 750fps and the bullet will not expand at that rate. Compare a 125gr at 750 vs a 90gr @1000 in the .380 and tell me there's a big difference.
No, I would opt for a 200gr LRN at about 650. Should go in and keyhole.

The Nyclads have a long and respected reputation of expansion from 1 7/8" J-frames at non-plus P velocities. I've also read some reports on the Hornady Critical Defense non-plus P loads that indicate they also expand reliably. Current bullet technology has improved considerably and reliable expansion at lower velocities is one of the improvements.

I would think any of the 158 grain loadings from the major manufacturers would work best for standard .38 specials. Unless I could get at least 300 ft-lbs of muzzle energy or 1000+ feet per second, I wouldn't play around with bullet weight. I'd go for the biggest slug one of these can throw accurately.
