Best ankle holster for our M&P Shield?

I prefer to carry on my ankle; it's much more comfortable for me. Right now I'm using a basic neoprene wrap type, that I got off amazon. It's functional but I'm looking for something better.

If you carry on your ankle, which holster do you like? I was thinking of getting the new aliengear that just came out.

Not sure about a shield, but I've used Gould & Goodrich for my PPK and 638. I have to replace the garter about every 12-18 months, but a good holster.

There are a number of options out there for ankle holsters, both name brand and off brand. I ankle carry my P938 and Micro 9 with somewhat baggy jeans. Can't imagine ankle carrying a shield, at least not for my stature.

I'm a stocky guy, so carrying the shield on my ankle actually feels pretty good. If anything I can't find an IWB that really feels comfortable, and I've got about 6 or 7 IWB holsters in a box. Plus I couldn't drive with it that way either..this way I just go and do whatever and half the time I forget it's there..

I am thinking of picking up the new M&P Shield 380 though too, which could be a new EDC for me.

This may work fine for a striker type firearm, but not sure I would advise it for a cock/locked firearm like what is shown. All my ankle holsters experimented with over the years had a Velcro strap that went between the cocked hammer and the firing pin. This serves two purposes, firing pin block and secure the weapon. Weapons on the ankle are in constant movement w/ varying levels of impact depending on what you're doing with that foot and/or body movement. While I've never had a firearm in an ankle holster work loose (with the strap), I did have the safety on my P938 go to the down position once for whatever reason. I noticed the condition when removing the holster. To me, not a big deal with the Velcro strap between the hammer and the firing pin and the trigger guard fully enclosed. I've only had this happen once in this carry mode (ankle). I carry both the P938 and Micro 9 in a Desantis pocket holster most of the summer months and never had an issue probably because the pocket holster and pocket are more stable than carrying on the ankle. The key being things can happen when carrying concealed regardless of carry method.

This may work fine for a striker type firearm, but not sure I would advise it for a cock/locked firearm like what is shown.

I'm not sure I'd like this system either for my P238, but the trigger is totally enveloped in Kydex with locking retention, so theoretically it seems safe.

I use a Telor Tactical Comfort-Air ankle holster. It's comfy, not as thick as some other ankle holsters, and allows air to flow through it.

I have the Desantis Apache ankle holster for my Shield. I don't use it too often but when I do it's very comfortable.

I carry a 637 in an Uncle Mikes ankle holster. Before I bought the J-frame I carried a 9mm Shield in a different Uncle Mikes ankle holster. Could be just a coincidence but I developed some knee pain and switching to the lighter gun made it go away.

Galco Ankle Glove. That's all I've used for the past 20 + years. Very comfortable, durable and last for years. That's just my experience.

My brother has the one from Sticky Holsters. I tried it and it worked very well.

I've carried with a Desantis Apache Ankle Rig holster for over 6,000 hours. These are typically 8-10 hour shifts. Zero issues, ever.

I wear long tube socks and strap the holster over my sock for added comfort. Never once during a shift have I had to remove or adjust the holster due to discomfort.

Galco ankle glove in 20 years I have worn out one.And I am on my second for a 638.That is wearing over a boot 8-12-15 plus hrs a day 5-7 days a week
