I am sure some of you have seen these very generic looking boxes of Winchester 40 S&W ammo in your local gun shops recently. I have seen these boxes of 50 rounds go for anywhere between $19-$28. I found a place recently which had them on sale for $19.99 and opened a box to take a look. They appeared to be the PDX-1 bullet loaded in a brass case with red primer sealant. I have had very good luck with the PDX-1 bullet during previous tests, so I jumped in with both feet and bought two boxes. With the 6% sales tax in PA, it came out to be $42.38 or $0.42/round. Over the weekend, I was also testing out the new 4006TSW and decided to try the new ammo as well. The bullet performed exactly like the $1.00/round black box PDX-1 loads. It traveled into the third gallon jug of water @ 25' with full expansion. I also noticed the ammo was loaded fairly "hot". You could tell from the report and recoil that it was hotter than the FMJ's I was shooting that day. These rounds also shoot same POA/POI as the Winchester 180gr white box. I can only assume these hollowpoints were a factory over-run from a large LE or other Gov't order. In my opinion, for that price, they are the best deal on the market right now. I have always liked Winchester ammo and they have come through again. Thought some of you would like to know.
