Given that the frames of the airweights (637, 638, 642) are aluminum, what is the best lubricant to use on the internal parts?

I've been using regular gun oil on mine for over 40 years and see no reason to change.

I'm like Old Cop and use regular gun oil with results that are equal to gun oil use on steel-framed revolvers.

Your favorite gun oil. Mine happens to be Rem Oil.

I soak all parts in CLP, wipe them down and then use WC Ultima Lube II Universal on the moving parts. Just enough to give them a thin coating.

Best lube? If you can pull your sideplate, a good synthetic grease on the pivot pins and double action interface will provide the best lube and won't run out or oxidize over time. This isn't my idea, a number of pro gunsmiths and manufacturers of high quality parts will tell you the same thing.

I can't count the number of dweebs with oil stains on their uniform I have seen over the years. Oil runs out and oxidizes over a short time, good grease stays put-for years.

The same with autos, put oil on the rails and it runs right out when holstered. Do as you wish, but real long term lubrication means grease, over a few short term shots it doesn't matter if you go dry or not.
