Best Mag loader

I bought a Hilljak's for both my 15-22 and my Ruger MKIII. Reasonable price and helps push the follower down. The 15-22 isn't near as bad to load as the MKIII. Uplula for my M&P pistols.

On my 10 round longs (with the retaining pin knocked out since 25 round magazines are legal in my state), I use a golf tee, as this fits nicely into the follower hole. It provides a better grip since its a pulling action rather than a pinch and pull. Your fingers won't get sore from loading mags, and it costs nothing.

I've considered taking the button off the 25 round longs and 10 round shorts as a result.

Try it, if you don't like it, you can always put the buttons back.

I bought a Maglula and never used it. The button on the outside of the mag that pulls the follower down worked satisfactorily for me.

Try for a while before buying IMO.

I am one of the original beta testers for the Stinkin' Good Loader (I created the name, BTW) from Skunkworks and I can still load a 25-rounder by hand faster than I can messing with the loader.

I am 71, have arthritis in both hands, and I can still load a 25-round magazine is a little over 30 seconds. I see no need for a loader. Oh yea, I go to the range with 15 25-round and 10 10-round and I hand load every one of them.

You are a loading machine. Myself, I have a long way to go to even approach 2 minutes per 25 rounder magazine.

Spend a lot of time making certain that the bullet stagger is correct.

Me too. It's not the time it takes to load a mag that slows me down. It's the constant checking and shaking to ensure the rounds are staggered that takes time.

I will! I use the 25 rounders so it's not an issue of pulling down the floor plate. Sometimes when I'm stacking in a few rounds one just doesn't stagger right so everything comes to a halt until you get them to sit properly. Maybe using a Tee will help with that.

After loading a couple of mags, it becomes second nature and happens without conscious attention. I generally load mags sitting in the living room watching TV.

You don't have to pull the follower all the way down; that invites mis-staggering. I pull it down enough to load one round, pull it down a little and load another ... ad nausum. :)

You don't pull all the way down with the golf tee either; it provides better leverage (esp for you Majorlk - given your arthritis).

But, you need to take off the floor plate and bring the follower to the bottom to knock out the button. Takes 10 seconds, and if you don't like the golf tee approach, put the button back in, no harm no foul!

Regardless,
Cheers!

Normally, I pull the follower down far enough to put in 3-5 rounds. That's enough to allow one to go in and not sit properly so perhaps I need to slow my roll and only load 1-2 at a time.

I don't know if it's the best, But I've got one from Rapid Loader Technology and it works very well for me. When I'm by myself loading by hand is not a problem, but when u have 4 grand kids waiting behind u it just seems u can't load them fast enough. Besides I have taught them how to use it and it relieves me of my duties. One magazine for each of them and it goes along with all their safety equipment. They love it.
