I’ve been looking around on the net and there is quite a few options for buying ammo in a higher quantity then the local stores have, but I’m just wondering if any of you long timers know any tips or info, such as who offers the best shipping or rebates? Handgun and rifle ammo

Don—I think you have to go on a case-by-case basis. I use the ammoseek.com app to search for the best deal on the particular caliber for which I am looking, then see who has the lowest per round price.

That’s exactly what I need... thank you

Typically the best on factory ammo (both selection and price) is going to be SGammo or Target Sports USA.

Target Sports has free shipping on bulk while SGammo doesn't however, their total price delivered to you are for the most part within a few dollars of each other. You may find Target Sports carried brand X for $1.80 cheaper delivered or that SGammo has a different brand that Target Sports doesn't but the price is still pretty cheap

For example.

SGammo. $183.80 + $16 shipping = $199.80 delivered

Target Sports USA $199.80

Another vote for SGAmmo. Haven't used Target Sport USA yet, but I've yet to read any bad reviews about them.

Have never had an issue with Target Sports USA; I buy 9mm Speer in bulk by the case. Any ammo by the case gets shipping included

Look at LAXAmmo as well. Just found out about them from some shooters who have been using there remanufactured stuff with great success. 115 grn is 178.00 per thousand. They ship your first order for free and then run free shipping often and will let you know when they are running that special offer. They have a large selection of new as well.

I use SGAmmo.

They charge for shipping, but they do pack in plain boxes, while other companies that are a bit cheaper pack badly in recycled stock boxes. It is important to me, because of where I live, that boxes not scream AMMO to those who pass by the box at my door, and that loose rounds are not falling out of broken boxes.

SGA does put out a frequent newsletter letting you know what is new / back in stock.

And it is a veteran-owned family business!!

Target Sports is all I use. Good packing, fast shipping, and free shipping if you buy a case. They even ship to MA, which is very good.

Thanks guys, I’ll be checking into SGAmmo and target sports for sure... I’ve never ordered online yet, I know that “luckygunner” ships to Illinois if you email them pics of your Foid card... it’s the busy season at my work right now so I barely even have a chance to breathe... after work goes back to normal I’ll be actually trying to order some ammo.

Who they ship with is important. I had to take a day off work to get a case of ammo FedEx ground. Once it's on the delivery truck, they try 3 X then it goes back. No way to contact driver, pick up at hub. Busted *** vans with FedEx sticker on it. UPS ground makes sure you get your delivery or a way to pick it up. Target sports uses UPS (at least last time I ordered). Joe

If it looks good, buy it! For example, PSA had 5.7x28 ammo for just under $15/box of 50 for a long time...that was a clear BUY considering local prices were $25/50.

At $15 per 50, it is cheaper to buy the loaded ammo, pull the bullets, dump the powder, and load my own charges than to start from scratch!

No problems so far with my first 3 orders from LuckyGunner... same day shipped FedEx to the door. I like the fact that the site has customer reviews. That has played a big part in my purchasing decisions.

Will definitely have a look at the other places listed upthread to see if I can get a better deal on ammo for my 3" 686.

Edit: Wow. At first glance SGAmmo has some pretty good prices. Glad I found this thread.
