Bud's has em' for $454.00, anyone have any place with a better price on a new one? I've got a short list of pistols I'm looking at and price IS a factor so the cheaper I can get an M&P for the higher up on the list it'll move. Pretty much gave up on a Glock 26 since all I've read says the M&P Compact is as good if not better then the Glock. Anyway, thanks and post links if you have em'.

So around $450 is a good price, thanks. That gives me some "ammo" to use when I go to the Pawn Shop to talk price. For some reason they think guns are made of Gold around here and tend to be $75-$150 higher then most places,LOL. Appreciate the info, thanks. :D

I haven't been keeping up with prices of M&P's. Has there been a price reduction by S&W on their M&P lineup?

In January of this year I bought one at a LGS for $560 plus tax, and I thought at the time that it was a good price.

Now I see the MSRP on the S&W website has a 9c without thumb safety, mag safety, or lock for $569?

I traded my 9c earlier this year, but now I want another, and with the lower prices this will be easier.

I saw a used one for $400 today. 9c. Didn't look much more at that because I was drooling over the 45c I was filling out the paperwork on!

Yes, as you noticed the msrp droped about $150. I'd wait for dealers to clear old stock and see what the new prices wind up being. They should get down to about $400. Same with the bodyguard 380. I want a 40c ( I have a 9c now) and will wait to see how far the prices drop at retail level. It's strange.

I've got a 40C on my want list, so I've been watching the prices pretty closely. I was at a gun show yesterday and found one dealer with 2 NIB .357Sig M&Ps for $399.99 - no budging on the price. I asked if he had the 9mm or .40S&W versions on hand and he said "No, and if I did, the price for either would be $489.00 (+ tax)". I had heard rumors that NIB M&P Compacts would be selling for $400.00 (+ tax) at the gun show, but rumor control had that one wrong. I've seen a couple of ads on the internet for $400.00 M&Ps for LEO only.

Best of luck,

Dave

Asked about a 9c at my LGS today, and they're asking $580 for a new one, and $539 for a used one! And this store used to have pretty fair prices in this area. I'd like to support them, but it looks like on-line shopping might be the way to go for now.

When did that price decrease occur at S&W? I'm trying to figure out how long until distributors' and gun shops' older, higher cost inventories will be depleted, and for lower prices to maybe appear in the showcases.

I have this issue fairly consistently. Shops are competitive with each other but rarely with online prices. FWIW, here is what has worked consistently for me.
What I do is find the best price on gunbroker and email the listing to ONE (only) of my local dealers. I tell him I would like to buy and use him for the transfer but would happily buy the same gun from him if he "can come close to the price". This tells him I'm an informed shopper and serious about buying. It's then up to him on how much he wants to make off me.

This results in a local price match/quote within 0-10% of the gunbroker price (90% of the time). This way, they make a 2-3x more than the $25 transfer fee and I get a good local deal for just a few $ more. Then when I pick up the gun, I make sure I "share" a little of my savings on holsters, ammo, cleaning supplies........whatever. This further greases the skids for the next deal and we all leave happy and better off.

Great idea Dave. I'll have to check out Gunbroker tonight, and choose a gunshop that I'll want to do business with.

Actually, there's an FFL holder who charges really reasonable fees for doing transfers, and he also has a small shop. But if I want to do any hands-on comparisons of different guns, I'll need to do that at a Bass Pro or a pawn shop in the area.

I think I've pretty much decided on a M&Pc though. I'm really sorry that I traded my 9c earlier this year...looking back, it was one of the best 9mm's I've owned, even though I wasn't really able to get those 115gr LRN's to work the action with the 3.1gr of Clays.

Thanks for the idea, and I hope you all have a very merry Christmas.

Yea, I remember that. That was an odd one. I still think it had something to do with bullet shape/ that particular bullet. I'm now reloading nothing but heavier bullets (124-130 gr) anyway and very pleased. I can load them much longer than that 115 gr Missouri without issues.

All that said, you can always shop for a used 9c if $ is tight. I see them around for $375-$425 ) . Paid just $400 from a member here as I recall. Love this little gun!
It IS no doubt the best and most used 9mm I've ever owned (out of 10 or so).
.. and the same to you and yours.

Establish a working relationship with the local gun store of your choice. Once you get to know them ask if they ever have "Dealer Guns". A "Dealer Gun" is sold to the shop by the S&W rep for way under the normal price. The dealer commits to not sell the gun for 6 months but to use it as a display/demo. After 6 months the factory rep replaces it with whatever is newer and the shop is free to do whatever they want with the gun. Now the Dealer Gun has never been fired (except the one round at the factory), but has been handled at the counter by countless prospective buyers.

I got my MP9c (Dealer Gun), two years ago for $379. I went with the rebate and got $50 in cash back from S&W along with two additional magazines. Brand new MP9c (lots of fingerprints), with 3 mags for $329. If you are in the right place at the right time this can work out real well. For the record I love my MP9c, great gun - easy to conceal and shoots like a dream. Nicest 9mm I've ever shot. YMMV
