Need a range bag for my new AR 15-22. Any suggestions for around $100?

Anyone own the 5.11 AR15 case?

I have the 5.11 36" tactical rifle case (I bet what your referring to) and it is awesome. I would recommend it any day. Very modular, very well made & quality, great size. I added a lot of the molle extra magazine pouches. Well padded. And you can find great deals on them. Owned and abused for about 2-3 years.

I might get this one. $110 on Amazon, any cheaper places that you know of?

Not off the top of my head, I am a big user on Calguns.net forums and when I got mine it was off a deal I saw there.

AR15.com is a good place to look for gear in their Equipment Exchange section.

The 5.11 case is very nice. I have one for one of my AR's. I need to check out the one from Cabellas myself.

I'll second the Midway Pro Series case too. I've got one and it's well worth the $$.

i have that case as well. before it wasn't called the AR15 case. it was just referred to as the 36" case.

i also have what they refer to as the covrt M4. basically that one is meant to hold a collapsed m4 style rifle, so it is perfect for the 15-22. if you don't store the mag pouches on the outside like i do, it doesn't really look like a gun bag... thus the "covert M4" name.

i am kind of 5.11 crazy. i got their pants, shorts, socks, belt, range bag....

they are great durable products and i would highly recommend them. still, you could probably find something cheaper that would still suit your needs. although, i will usually go for quality. i will try and post some pics in a bit of the covrt bag although, you will beat me if you google it.

Is there inside storage for mags in the Covert M4 bag?

yes. they have two outer pouches that you can throw stuff in. it also has some MOLLE straps on the outside that i stuck my double magazine pouches on. it comes in a couple colors i believe.

i can easily get my glock case and 4 AK magazines in the lower section without even trying.

the upper case has MOLLE straps on the inside as well as it's outside. it can easily fit two buttstocks as an example.

pretty good bag.

of the two, i like the 36" bag more... still, they compliment each other well.

Voodoo Tactical 36"

I've got one of these on the way. Until it arrives, I'll be rocking my 15-22 in an old Fender soft side guitar case, El Mariachi style...

I can't give any feedback on it personally of yet, but there are a whole bunch of pretty extensive video and text reviews of it and I haven't heard anything but good about it.

Only thing I can see from the pics and vids that I would improve is to add several more individual velcro tie downs (or MOLLE grids, but that would be more $ I imagine) in the rifle compartments to allow for securing bipods/lights/more spare mags/etc. I'm also not wild about the overt skull logo on the black one but I figure a couple minutes w/ a Sharpie can take care of that.

The 5.11 and Voodoo are very very similar, both great choices. Whichever is the best price on the day would be a fine choice as they pretty much mimic each other.

That 5.11 Covert M4 bag looks very nice for less of a "I have an expensive and scary rifle in my bag" effect.

Mine cost like $30 bucks but it works great. Tell ya what send the 100 clams my way and I'll mail it to you.
