Best S&W compact 9mm ever made?

That's a tough choice. I have had a 3913, a couple of CS9s and a couple of 6906s. I find it very difficult to pick one over the others. There have been times that each was the best fit for the requirements of that particular day. They are all winners.

My 3953 is a great carry gun. Slim, stainless, and a trigger you can be sure of. It's like pulling a DA revolver every time.

I sold my S&W #908 and bought a #3913, and did not like it as well. I swapped the #3913. I had a #469 a while back that I liked, but it did not carry as easily as the #908 did.

If you like big, heavy bullets in a fine package try a #457.

Can't belive no one said it yet. The best 9mm compact S&W made, Model 940 J frame.
Save for scarce 9mm revolver rounds. I've opened a 9mm factory fresh box of ammo just to find one or two bullets sunken just from shipping and handling. How did the 940 deal on the 4 remaining shots?

-...Actually the cs9, 40 and 45 are on the approved firearms roster. They're ok to bring into MA. Suggest you discuss with your FFL

Sorry, I'm not selling it. As I said in another thread, my greatest fear is that my daughter will like shooting it and want it when she gets her license. In which case I'll have to try to find another one.

The problem with the CS and all 3rd generation Smiths is that now that they are out of production people have figured out how good they are and want them. Two years ago they were all over the place and relatively cheap. Now, they are scarce and expensive.

Since I live in MA with our goofy gun laws, I can't buy one on line and have it transferred in. So, by and large the ones that are here are what we're going to have.

I agree, 3913/14 great guns, function ,accurate, easy to conceal. But about 10 yearsago got my hands on a P/C 6906 and thats what I carry everyday. Same reliability, but a bit more accurate especially out at 25-30 yards.
However if they ever were to make a single stack P/C version (not likely today) It would get my heads up. Bob

I tend to favor my 3913 over my 6906 but then I have small hands and with the wider double stack grip I tend to push em to 7pm.

I was planning to get a 3913 but ended up with a 3953. I really like the 3953 but I'm still in the mood for a 3913.:)

I saw a 3913 at a pawn shop yesterday. It was "used" but plenty of life left. They wanted $390. Since I wasn't that familiar with that particular model I walked away. I am still looking for a good CCW semi. If they are as good as you say maybe I should stop back tomorrow. How about the price?

Really like the 3913(my 6906 is a very close second), and almost let this one go just recently on a trade. It's a pre-rail which makes it even better. I was just offered 650 for this gun and turned it down.
Who needs a Glock?

The deal was done, shop owner had the 3913 in his hand and was putting the key in the lock to the display case, stopped and said wait try this one, handing me a 6906. They were both is about the same condition but the 6906 had two mags and was $50 less. BUT it just felt so much better in my hand. I said "I'll take the fat one". He grinned and but the 3913 back. Come to find out he had just the one 3913, and was trying to convince himself he needed it for him, and 12 6906s. We were both happy with the deal.

Plus one for the 6906 followed closely by the M&P9c.

I love my 6906, but don't carry it as much as my other 3rd Gen Smiths. If I didn't have the CS9 and 3914, I'd carry the 6906 all the time.

If it's in decent shape, I'd grab it for that.

I rate the 3913/14 series as one of the very best compact , single stack 9mm pistols ever made at any price.

Others that deserve a lot of respect are :

SIG P225, SIG P239,Kahr stainless all steel full size,HKP7M8.
