Leupold Mark AR scopes are on sale at Cabela's till December 31. $250 for the 3-9 duplex. Leupold also has a $50 mail in rebate, Cabelas also has a $20 off $150+ purchase. I just could not turn this deal down! I planned on using this on my Troy AR from Dicks, but that got canceled (dont get me started on that), now I will use it as a upgrade over the bug buster.

So my question, what rings/mount do you guys feel will do this scope justice at the cheapest price?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

David

I picked up a set of Weaver 1 inch see thru mounts for 11.95 last Saturday at Walmart. They seem to be well made and test fitting them on the forward rail on my Ruger Gunsite shows them to be a snug but near perfect fit on the forward rail. Big plus for me is that I'll be able to co-witness with the ghost ring sight with the scope mounted. Now it's simply a matter of having the Nikon 2.5-8x28 EER I have on order coming in.

The only downside is relatively minor, it's a slide on mount and as tightly fitted to the rail as they are I'm pretty certain that mounting and removal will require dismounting the scope and then the mounts.

Part number for the see thru mount is 49063 and Walmart actually had a rather decent selection of different Weaver Mounts.

This is a forum for S&W M&P 15 and 15-22s not Rugers. If you want Ruger info go to a Ruger site.

Really photoracer? The thread is about scopes and a mention of fit on the rails of a Ruger. Certainly not a Ruger thread...sheesh merry christmas to you too.

Nice scope for the money. Make sure to post about how it set up and zero's, etc.

Yes the same mount. As for the other issue the guy ask for info on mounts for a 15-22 and a guy posted info on a Ruger Gunsite which is a scout rifle. Scout rifles don't use anything you could conceivably use on a 15-22. I would certainly describe that as off topic.

Burris PEPR

It's a great mount for the money.

There you go, grab a shovel and keep digging.

The scope rings that were mentioned WILL work on a 15-22.

BTW, you never answered my question photo.

The PEPR is over priced. People who have bought both the non-QD PEPR and the Aim Sport cantilever say you can't tell them apart in the way of quality, function, or fit. The QD version is a different story. As for your scope question I am not a big fan of UTG/Barska/NcSTAR scopes in general, although on a .22 they might live awhile. I'd take a BSA or a Chinese made Weaver Kaska anyday. I currently use TruGlo red dots, one in fact like your picture on my HD AR. I tried one of those combo NcSTAR laser/red dots and it was a pain in the **s to use. I have no real issue with PA as they sell a lot of great stuff, including top shelf optics.
As for the other question you CAN use any set of rings, however if the scope has any amount of abnormal eye relief the only way to keep it on the receiver and off the handguard rail is to use a cantilever mount. That is why they were designed. Unless you plan on putting your stock back as far as it will go.

i can't beat the price on the mount that photoracer linked to. when i was considering getting the P.E.P.R, a local shooter referred me to the SSALT scope mount.

it is basically a near clone of the P.E.P.R. but you cannot change out to top half of the rings to plain or picatinny and it doesn't have the QD option. what seems to be it's strong point is that it has 30mm rings and it does include 1" inserts. so it is like getting two mounts in one... plus it is cheaper than the PEPR. like the P.E.P.R, it is designed specifically for the AR platform.

SWFA S.S.A.L.T. 30mm Scope Mount

I don't think it's overpriced at all. I was sharing my personal preference, and the mount I would put on the OP's Leupold.

You shared your preference too. I didn't reply to your post saying the AIM mount is too cheap for a Leupold, it doesn't come in QD, and only has the railed ring tops.

?? I'm not sure what Truglo optic you're referring to. I don't own any. Had the adjustment dial pop right off of the last one.

I was talking about this comment BTW
"As long as you only put it on a .22 the PA is fine"

Yes, I know this.

Scooter123 was just sharing some scope mounts that he likes on another rifle.

They will work on a 15-22. Why try to send him packing for contributing to the thread?

For the money, look at the CenterPoint 4x16x40AO mil dot....sold at Walmart for about $69.00, and comes with rings and caps....Excellent optics for the price, compareable to my Nikons....Imported and backed by Crossman. Rifle tested to .416 Rigby.....great buy, I use one and it works.....best regards Plum

Did I do this right guys? Does it look right? The picture of the bottom, is that the way it should be? Only 1 little bump, the other one looks stripped off.

I also use this mount on some of my .22 mounted optics:

Welcome to NcSTAR
This one is even cheaper than the Aim Sport and is QD. I would not recommend it for a heavy scope but for lightweight .22 scopes it works fine.

Looks fine to me. However you might have to slide the optical tube forward or back in the mount to get a good position based on how you hold your rifle.
I'm still waiting for my Burris MTAC 1-4x24 scope to show up for my 3-gun AR. Supposed to be here Friday but weather got in the way. Not sure if I am going to mount it on the Aim Sport or my AR-Stoner cantilever.

Yeah the cross bolt that goes in between the rail sections. I am not sure if there should be 2 or just the 1.

My Burris PEPR has two crossbolts that look identical. Both protrude down into the rail slots the same. There's an oval lug between the two bolts that sits in a slot too.

It should be ok like it is on a .22lr, but it might not hold zero on an AR for long.

Did you get it new?

Is it a Burris or a knockoff? If it's a Burris, send it back.

Thanks Gopher. I sent the seller the pictures and they are sending me another one.
