Well, after a couple years, my Pelican 2350 ( 2 AA) switch seems to work when it wants to. I keep it on top of the safe to look inside. Still on the first set of batteries. Contacted Pelican for a replacement switch. Lengthy warranty process, and the 2350 is not made anymore.

So I am on the hunt for a small flashlight, LED, 2-AA size, aluminum, watertight, carry clip and knurled finish. Oh and lifetime warranty.

Any suggestions??

I don't mind spending some bucks for a quality light. I've been a Surefire fan for a long time, still carry my incandescent Surefire E2e in my duty bag that I've had for over 10 years.

But for every day carry as a LEO I've switched to a Fenix PD35. Fitted with Cree XP-L HI V3 LED, it delivers a far-reaching distance of 820 feet with a maximum output of 1000 lumens. It doesn't use AA batteries, but the CR123 last a loooong time.

Check out the Fenix web site, the PD35 is only one of a number of lights they sell that may fit your need.

I don’t know how long it will last but China Palace (AKA Harbor Freight) has a nice aluminum bodied COB light that you can get on sale for $5. $200 lumens and a clip. A nice light but since the led is on the side of the barrel it spreads. No lens. 2 brightness levels.

Sorry link doesn’t work, search under Q-u-a-n-t-u-m. $7.99 regularly

I have used these for a decade. They last 2+ years, use one AA battery, will hold a charge without being used for months and for 6-8 hours of constant use. 3 modes, high, low and pulse they are cheap enough to stash them everywhere. They will not blind someone if you need them to halt, cannot be used as a club, and are not the furthest shining light I own but love them. It is tough to shine this past 75-100 feet and see details, but rarely do we need that.

Well, the list is almost endless. I carried a Fenix PD35 at work for years. Highly recommend their products. Work great, and the PD35 runs on two 3volt CR123 lithium non-rechargeable batteries ($2.00+ each) , or rechargeable RCR 3volt li-ion batteries. (require a charger) Several output levels.

Rechageable battery and charger....

Surefire is arguably the "best" available hand held light, largely due to Surefire's warranty......forever. The thing I don't like about Surefire, the initial cost is high (to help cover the warranty) .....and most of their tactical hand-held lights have only one output level. The light is either "off" or "on".....no different levels of output.

Another good option for pocket carry is the AA size light by Lumintop. It's called the Lumintop Tool 2.0. Very small, high quality light, pocket clip, etc. Output is above 400 lumens, and there are four levels of output. Runs on one AA size battery, or a single "14500 series" re-chargeable battery. (lights output is higher with the re-chargeable battery) There are several lights available from Lumintop that might meet your requirements. Remember that the pocket clips can usually be turned around so that the light can be clipped on the bill of your cap as a work light......now you have both hands free.

I bought a Streamlight Microstream USB at their display at the NRA convention in Dallas last year. It is a great flashlight. Since I started using it, I seldom reach for anything else.

It is rechargeable using a Micro USB connector and has 2 different brightness levels. It is about 4" long and the diameter of a AA battery. I carry it everywhere on my key ring and charge it once-a-month for only about 20-30 minutes.

Any of them LED's that don't refract in smoke or fog?
(asked for the umpteenth time on this forum)
Any light refracts in fog & smoke. Reflection's what ya wanna avoid, screws up dark-adapted vision. Amber works ok but makes things look weird. Best in my opinion is to use ambient light as well as you can and look higher than the apparent visual horizon—where roadway water and fog/smoke appear to meet. You can see further than you'd think, especially with more pupil dilation. Look in the dark places but keep your vision moving. Of course, use a light if/when you hafta.

I have had a Nitecore EDC that has full variable output plus strobe. About the size of a shotgun shell. Extremely reliable and quite bright. I don't even know if they make it anymore but you can find all sorts of good stuff at Battery Junction. They're easu and quick to do business with. Variable output, colored light choices are good things, IMO.

Take a look at the Streamlight ProTac 1L-1AA.
Runs on 1 aa battery or
1 CR123a.
Read the reviews.
Great light.
Best,
