My laser just stopped working for no apparent reason. I bought new batteries and that did not help. The gun is two weeks old with about 300 rounds fired. Funny thing is I had to send my new S&W Shield .40 in for repairs of several things. Sight dot falling off, pins coming out, etc. That gun was just a couple months old. I am starting to wonder about S&W quality. My two Glocks and Beretta PX4 Storm have always been flawless. My Beretta has a Streamlight Laser/Flashlight on the rail that has worked for 7 years without an issue.
I am one of those people that try and buy American products. So far, I am not very impressed with the S&W quality.

Unfortunately, solid state assemblies, no matter the type or application, receive little or no shock and vibration testing. This is something that needs to be addressed by Insight as this type failure is becoming more commonplace. So, there are two different manufacturers here, S&W and Insight (L3 Comm).

You are absolutely correct. I did call S&W today. Told them the problem and they took my name and address and are shipping me a new Laser.

If you don't want to wait, there are several threads in this forum about repairing non-functional laser assemblies on the BG380.

When mine finally went belly up, after about 3 yrs, I just let it stay broke; I never used it nor planned to use it anyway.

When the new one comes in, I will check that it works and put it away in case I ever sell this gun. I have no intention of using the laser. I discovered it was no longer working when trying to demonstrate it to someone. That went over like a lead balloon.

I've actually enjoyed the laser on mine. It's fun at night to blast cheap soda pops and stuff. Once dialed in, mine hits the dot everytime.

Received a new Laser withing 3 days. Pretty damn good. One big problem. This Laser also does not work. Need to call S&W and have another one sent to me.
