Bianchi Kit Gun holster

Found a vintage, made in USA, Bianchi 5BHL Holster stamped Kit Gun for my Model 63.

LUCKY YOU! That very nice! I have the safety strap version for my Model 34, purchased I don't know how long ago. It's served well over the years. I remember when I bought it I was a little miffed because I couldn't find a similar Safariland holster. I prefer their lining material. Anyway, the Bianchi has done just fine. I'm always on the prowl for a similar holster for a K-22, but I guess these old designs are still widely appreciated and desired. I almost never see one for sale, and when I do it is either very pricey, black (don't like ), or in poor condition. Looks like you found a dandy!

My favorite field holster! I use one just like it regularly for my 34, 63, 651, and 51. They are much more comfortable than most concealment holsters on the trail, checking my acreage, or small game hunting. I also have separate ones for my 3-inch 60-15 and for my 4-inch K frames.

Had to buy two of the newer Mexican holsters... RH for me LH for the wife............... I like the older ones' better.

I got a 5BH for my 4" 686 for free. But it's made in Mexico. You can tell a difference in the stitching(?). I like the one above . It looks better.
But I wont complain on mine for the price.

I had the Safariland Model 29 you wanted. Very nice holster, and I had several, for various guns. Most were basketweave, with suede lining. I especially liked the green suede in some.


If you still can't find one, El Paso Saddlery 's Model 2 is virtually identcal, and workmanship is at least as good as was Safarilnd's.

Thanks for the info about El Paso, Texas Star. What is their lining like? Is it soft, like Safariland's old green lining, or is it just smooth-side-in leather?

El Paso's lining is soft brown suede. At least, on holsters I own and have seen. It's caused very little finish wear, even on guns carried almost daily for over 30 years.

They made my Threepersons and Model 2 holsters for my S&W 60-4. Bianchi told me to stretch their Model 5 for the full-lugged barrel. I haven't bought a Bianchi product since!

I have an Elpaso it's an older one. I don't remember the name of it some friends bought it for me as a gift.
It has brown suede lining. Perfect holster for me, I like exposed trigger guards on all my holsters.

Thanks alot, Texas Star. That Nr. 2 looks very good! I know there are pluses and minuses to everything, but I like the way the holster is relieved around the adjustable rear sight on the S&W revolver. I understand that surrounding the sight with the holster does offer it some protection, but I think I prefer what I see in the El Paso design. Good looking basketweave work, nice stitching, and a pretty color, too. I said I wasn't buying any more holsters but you may have changed my mind.

I had one of the Bianchi kit holsters for my model 63. I didn't like the rear sight getting rubbed all the time and sold it. Had a holster made at a saddle shop in Alpine, TX, but it's too tight.

Thanks Texas Star for sharing that link, I will go that route for my 63.

I have a 5BH for my Model 36-1. It also fits the 32 Long Hand Ejector with the 3 1/4" barrel. I also got a Brill copy for the little revolvers.

That's a great holster for your kit gun.
Being marked for a kit gun sure helps.
Sometimes you just never with holsters what can or will work.
I picked up this Eubanks at a gunshow because it was cheap.
Figured it was for a Highstandard and I like them so......
On a whim I tried the closest thing I have to a kit gun. It couldn't have been a better match IMHO.

Hey thanks Paul, at least it looks like you are actually wearing your leather. Most of mine is too beat up for public viewing...
