Big Mistake 637-2 Performance Center

Stopped by LGS yesterday and handled a NIB (3/10/22 build) 637-2 PC. Last November I purchased a standard production 637 from the same LGS and figured I would compare them as there were none available locally at the time. Big mistake picking up that Performance Center gun.

Though the standard 637 shot well and had no real issues, I was not impressed with the 12+ lb (couldn't measure on my Timney) D/A pull. It had a very noticeable hitch just before the hammer dropped. A ton of dry firing didn't help. S/A was acceptable at 3.5 lbs. with a tiny amount of take up.

I could immediately feel a difference in the action on the PC model...and it didn't hurt that the grips felt great in hand. I traded. As expected lost a little $$ and am completely satisfied with the deal. Out of the box the action on the PC version is smooth and hitch free as I could ask for. Easy pull with clean break in D/A right at 9 lbs. and the S/A pull is 2.5 lbs. with zero take up. The lightest production trigger S&W revolver I own. I read people knocking PC guns, but the PC version was a noticeable upgrade over the production gun for me. YMMV. Will get it to the range this week and get back with how it shoots for me.

coincidentally, someone just posted one of these 637 PC on my local (Virginia) forum ($450). If I hadn't finally satisfied my j-frame itch recently with a 360J, I would have picked it up.

In my experience, much hinges on the individual gun. I've found little difference in the DAs of my 637-1 (CCZxxxx) and my later 637-2 PC (CZMxxxx). It's there, but almost imperceptible. My pair of 637-2 PC "Wyatt" DAO revolvers (CUE, CUZxxxx), however, are a world apart as to DA smoothness. Whoever produced these 2 really knew his business!

Frankly, the only thing wrong with ANY 637 is if you have only one.

I remember seeing the Wyatt Deep Cover, but never handled one back then. I read several times people remarking about how good the triggers were on those guns.
